Accessories which screen protector is best?

hey guys! I'm a pre owner soon to be EVO owner! I don't think I will be getting a case in the beginning as I want all of it's sexiness to be seen by the world. So I wanna get a really good screen protector. Reading the accessories must have thread people named many different ones like ghost armor and other name brands I can't think off the top of my head. Which would you prefer or not recommend? Thanks! And sorry if this was posted already I didn't do a search.

IMHO, screen protectors lessen the accuracy of a touchscreen. Not a big deal on the Pre, where you don't have to type on it... but on my iPhone I had, it made typing less accurate as the touches would sometimes not be registered.

It's a glass screen, unlike the Pre, so it's going to be very hard to scratch.

On the other hand, Clarivue makes the best protectors I've seen if you have to have one.

i've used brandos on my tp & pre.
the pre is messed up at the edges it's been on/off after so many replacements.
the tp is still on over a year and looks good.

I think different people have different preferences. I really liked my brother's Zagg Invisishield, but thought it felt a little too tacky.

I've read good thinks about Ghostarmor's Phantomskinz (good quality, smooth touch, apply evenly). I'm going to try them.

I use Phantomskinz on all of my devices. Much smoother and less of a tacky feel compared to the Zagg. The Zagg also yellows over time and has a "rough" orange peel type texture to it which I did not like. I used to use Zagg once upon a time. Phantomskinz is all I use now. The price is great too and one order includes a quantity of 2 skins.


Oh and the best way to insure smooth installation is to put a couple of drops of dish soap in the water before applying. I believe they mention that in their install instructions. It makes it really easy to apply without unintentionally sticking and with minimal air bubbles. And if you do get air bubbles, give them a week to work themselves out don't force them. They will disappear on their own.

I'm guessing that the Evo screen will be every bit as hard to scratch as the iphone screen, which is to say: don't worry about it. The glass they use on these things is mighty impressive

I'm worried about it. I've VERY careful with my phone, and it has scratches on the screen. No more completely naked phones for me.

All I see is about 5 sub 5mm scratches from when I dropped it face down on this pebbled concrete and kicked it about 10ft and that's after 2+ years. What do you do to your phone?

This is some great info! Thanks guys. I used an invisible shield on my palm pre but i think it sucked and was freakin expensive for just the front. Maybe i didnt properly install it but it started getting dirty and coming off on the edges. I have hairline scratches that came out of nowhere on my pre so i just wanna be cautious and not let that happen on the evo. But the ghost phantomskin sounds enticing coming with 2 skins for its price.

Keep it in its own pocket without anything else in it. Put it in a dock at work. Nothing unusual. Pretty disappointed that it does have scratches actually.

Strange. That's pretty much exactly what I do. I have 1 scratch, and that's not even noticeable unless your really look hard.

I owned a PPC6800, Vogue, and HTC Hero. Never had a screen protector on any of them and never got a scratch. I think it's a waste of money IMO and u lose accuracy like someone else said.

The pre's screen was terrible and easy to scratch but every device I've had with a glass screen has never needed a protector on it. The extra later really makes the device feel slightly less responsive imo.

I agree with everyone who says you don't really need to worry about scratching the screen. The only thing I'm worried about is easily keeping the screen clean - mainly fingerprints.

Most screen protectors help with that too.

I've had Zagg before and I'm considering trying out Ghost Armor. I posted this question in the accessories thread, but thought I'd post it here as well.

Anybody know if you can still fit a back cover on the phone, while having the full body ghost armor on? (Obviously, I'm hoping for experience with other phones since majority, if not all, of us haven't seen or had the EVO yet).

No, I purchased the clear. What I'm trying to say is that I think it's been cut backwards, so that it looks like it should be flipped over on the device with the tacky side up in the air and the slick side down (the opposite of what it should be)

As I said from my earlier post, I'm concerned that this initial batch may be cut backwards or mirrored from it how it should be. The third picture, with the screen protector flipped over, looks like the right fit, since the cutouts around the speaker grill look like they best fit around the front-facing cam:

Also, I'm not sure why there are cutouts (one larger and one smaller) on both sides of the speaker grill.

Any enlightenment and opinions would be appreciated, though at this point I'd recommend people to hold off on ordering the clarivue until we get things figured out. It does like it will cover the entire length of the face though.

I've also posted this on the case thread here at Android Forums, but I've photoshopped an overlay of my Clarivue over an image of the EVO, and the cutouts are indeed for the proximity sensor and front-facing camera. I'm no longer concerned, and it looks like the screen protector will fit perfectly once my EVO arrives.
