I'm a bit reluctant to be an early adopter as I've been burned in the past (and had originally hoped to wait until the T'giving sales) but 1. With it filling the Note 7 breach I'm questioning whether they'll put it on sale that soon 2. I want the headphones 3. I need a larger screen asap, and really liked the V20 when I played with a demo unit in-store last week.

Have been following first users this week and not seen too many grumbles yet, but wondering if I've just missed them. I'll be getting a TMo version, and am coming from am HTC m9.

Thoughts? Issues I've missed? Camera samples? Sound samples?

So far been a great phone, have had it for 2 days since going from Samsung to LG, they have a LG back to easily transfer data. It a few tries but it works. Only issue I am having is the mini view is not working on mine. Battery life so far is okay but hey I can change that out. Still have IR for remotes which the note 7 lacked.. Just wished it was water resistant and had wireless charging. Other than that great phone and I have been using Samsung only for years now. Not a bad switch.

I received my phone Friday from AT&T ..I have not had any issues to this point. The phone has been responsive and quick. Just so you know there is a app drawer in the settings. I drained the battery and gave it a full charge just to kill it on purpose to see how the battery is. I charged it and left alone over night.. I only lost 2% battery with the second screen displaying the time. During the day (7am), I surfed,added and deleted apps, tried a few launchers, YouTube, FB, IG, Feedly, emails, text, phone. I have 53% left.. Typing this with the LGv20 now.. It's 6:17pm. I really like the phone and I haven't ran into any quirks to this point. I'm hoping I won't. The phone feels really nice and it feels sturdy.. Kinda reminds me of my HTC M8 when I had it. Get a case right away and one that tucks away the camera bump.. So you can lay it down without laying it on the glass cover of the camera. Otterbox has one, Spigen, Bodyguardz and Poetic have nice cases for this phone as well.. The best to me is a UAG case for this phone. The speaker is better than I thought, it's loud and clear.. Considering its on the bottom. Since I didn't get a pair of B&O ear plugs.. I had another worthy set to use.. It sounds like a recording studio thru them.. Bass, treble and voice sound really nice. It is really clear cranked up but not with cheap plugs or headphones .. The phone will recognize they are cheap and the DAC won't read them. The shape of the phone and design is really nice.. I came from Nexus 6 to this and they are almost the same size but this feels better. The screen is bright.. I only have mine at 50%. I haven't noticed any bleed or the funny bright spots in the corners and everything is crisp and clear. I'm not really a camera and picture person but from what I have snapped.. It's clearer than what my Nexus offered and appeared equal in clarity to my 6s plus..but that's just me. I really have no complaints to this point. Coming from Nexus phones(vanilla andriod) .. The V20 is pretty light.. Nougat is alive and well thru out the phone.. Except for the carrier bloat which isn't that bad either. I must say the battery saving features and Andriods "doze" feature really works when the phone is idle.. Plus the phone has all kinds of energy saving options. Can't think of much else at the moment.. Hope it helps for whoever is on the fence and just want to try a LG phone.. This is my first.. I've read about issues with LG phones in the past.. But what phone is perfect? .. So far so good!

Just got mine on Friday and have been playing with it at every opportunity. I came from an iPhone 6 to the Note 7 and the V20 is my Note 7 replacement. I just ran through Phandroid's V20 tips and tricks page (http://phandroid.com/2016/09/29/lg-v20-tips-and-tricks/) and found a few hidden settings I hadn't noticed or thought about.
The lock button/fingerprint reader on the back takes some getting used to, but I'm at the point where it's starting to feel more natural and I don't instinctively try to press a physical home button with my thumb anymore.
I loved my Note 7 (even though I didn't get too much time to spend with it) and I was worried the V20 just wouldn't match up. I was wrong--it feels less skinned and more true Android to me and I'm really, really enjoying the phone. I have the Verizon version and don't know how much it differs from the T-Mobile version, but so far it's been wonderful.

Check the Play Store. I searched for "HTC clock widget" and it looks like there are some good HTC-like widget options.

One more note on the LGv20..hopefully a third party company will manufacture a durable glass protector for the rear camera lens/LED light..as there were a few reports of the glass cover breaking..Not a deal breaker for me but I think a good case and the mentioned lens protector would be fine. Let's hope it's not the norm with the glass breaking on the lens cover.

I had trouble transfering my stuff over from a note 3 - but mostly that was the note 3.

My battery cover didn't want to go back on after I put in my memory card - nothing to do with the card or anything hitting it just didn't line up well. after a few goes and some closer looking - completely my fault I didn't line up the top right and work down like the manual says you should. FANTASTIC mobile. as good as any motorola I used to have. will see how the reception goes.

so far I have LTE in my building but it's weak as hell at my office.

other parts I can pull down close to 12 down, 7 up. which is typical for VW here - walk outside or other places - I got 21 down and 7 up a few times. Definitely no LTE A here. I will have to test it against some other phones on VW. but around me T mobile is always faster - or they have no signal at all

I looked into T-Mobile last year, but in the backwaters away from Metro areas, they don't have any coverage where I ride my motorcycles

I'm not looking to compare carriers, but just wondering how the V20 compares to other phones on Tmo, since that's where I'll be staying (I need the Canadian coverage). As long as its no worse than my m9, I'm fine.

I thought I wouldn't be able to live without my precious tap on/tap off feature from the G3, but I've quickly fallen in love with the finger print scanner rapidly and consistently unlocking things and bringing the screen to life.

The bluetooth connects to all my devices, wireless headphones, car, home stereo systems, heart rate monitor, and foldable keyboard. I've noted that the V20 transfers artist, song, and album from music on my SD card, from Pandora, and from Spotify. My G3 simply played the music, but didn't show it on the display in my vehicle.

My G3 was always reliable with the phone signal, and with two days of calls with family, employees, customers, and vendors, the V20 is every bit as good as the G3 was, and while it's probably better, I can only speak to two days worth of usage. So far so good with reception.

The V20 is a BIG phone. I really liked the curved back of my G3 it was really unique and it worked in my hand very well. I don't like that all phone manufacturers seem bent on making their devices look as close to an iphone as possible, but maybe that's simply petty on my part.

The secondary display is neat and I'm continuing to try to find ways to make how I use my phone more efficient with it.

The G3 was my favorite phone I've ever had, and with 3 days of usage I think the V20 is becoming my favorite of all time. I wanted a big screen, a fast processor, and a removable battery. The Pixel XL and Note 7 only got two of three features right from my perspective. Moving from one Android device to another is very straightforward and I'm a happy camper with this phone.

My earlier discussion of tap on/ tap off was poorly written. The tap on/tap off still exists and is an easy setting to turn on or off. You've also got the ability to have a tap code like before on the G3. I currently have the fingerprint scanner that will completely unlock things, then when I double tap the screen, it comes up to a pin code. There are several ways you could set it up the way you want it.

As much as I really liked the tap on/tap off on my G3, I've already grown to like the fingerprint scanner a little better on my V20.

kinda wanted a curved back also. I was mostly set to get the moto Z instead. I loved my moto phones - and I liked their version of modules - and I was looking forward to their camera mod. but they ditched the headphone port - and I use that alot and don't want headphones I'll have to recharge or another cable nub or something to loose.

SO the V20 announcement was huge for me - everything I needed a new phone to have and some more. Already decided Samsuck was never getting my business again after the software smurfups on the note 3 and the lack of support. (samsung software that turns off other apps is what pissed me off)

I liked the G4 previously and thought hard about the V10 - but I'm glad I waited a bit more.

I will say if you haven't connected to the headphone jack you might be missing out on one of the key features of the mobile, the hi-fi DAC line. Really is the best sound I've gotten out of a portable device other than a few creative media devices and the Cowon line of players.

ON signal throughput - the V20 is one of the few phones out now that as carrier aggregation and X mimo modem capability turned on out of the box. not all carriers use that, everywhere. but I have to say so far I have great signal through put and surprisingly low SAR values.

so I could see with such a wide opening that it's something the case makers will need to address - Like put a bar though the middle of the oval - to provide a bit of a supporter. I could also see someone making a tempered glass protector for it.

a few of the breakages though - leave the phone still perfectly useable from the picture I've seen. either way it's an issue with how wide that area is. coverage would be nice.

I've been careful so far and I'm somewhat protective of items anyway but by all means put a case on the phone in general.

Some issues going around and I'm one of them that the camera lens cover is cracking for no apparent reason. And the more you touch it the more the spiderweb grows. They seem to be very soft but they won't replace it but we have a very good repair place here that can repair it as soon as the phone becomes available in the stores and they can get the replacement parts. It may cost me $50 bucks but if LG does not take responsibility then there is that backup plan.

I always use a case, but this spidering of the lens cover is a concern. My furnace died meaning I have to wait because I'm broke this week following repair bill, but hoping this problem resolves and/or is addressed.

On a plus note, my m9 is running like a dream right now following recent updates, so maybe it's not so awful to wait ....

So I stopped to play with another demo, this time at my local Tmo store. I like it more every time I handle it - this is a beautiful device, LG's software is very like HTC sense (only, dare I say it, a little better? It's a fraction more intuitive for me), and the screen looked fanfreakingtastic - clear and bright, but very natural (which I prefer to Samsung's oversaturated colours). Demo unit was extremely responsive, and LG's included software utilities seem helpful.

I paid particular attention to the camera glass. I admit I squeezed it and flicked it a few times with a nail just to see... and nothing happened. So, it's not as though it spontaneously shatters when touched. I'm presuming it must need a weakness in the glass (eg a gouge) before it will spread and break. Not sure a regular case will entirely mitigate this problem, but hopefully it will help. I admit I do like the feel of the V10 better (go figure!), but I want the under-the-hood goodies the V20 offers, so I guess I'll need to risk it. .

This seems like a great device, and the first one I've really lusted after since my HTC One X. I'm more impressed every time I pick one up.

Any issues? Well.... For me, yes there are some issues. BUT not with the equipment (phone).
First, there is the pain of moving from one to another. The set-up of the new phone and transferring of data, photos, etc.
Secondly, the getting used to the new OS. 7 is different and I am finding I have some issues with the way it works. Along with some apps are not yet set up for 7.
Third, with each new phone our carriers love to stick new and different junk (apps) on it so I have to learn that cr@#.

Otherwise, the new V20 is VERY fast and responsive. I am still playing with it as I took the entire day, yesterday, to set it up. (It reminds me of when I changed computers )

My vote is for you to Go For It...... It's only time and money

I'm thinking I'm going to wait a little longer and see what emerges over the next couple of weeks... I'm still lusting, but the camera-glass issue does worry me a bit (I know, I know, it's only a few users, but that seems to me to be a few too manY0, and after two replacements/factory resets in recent months (one an uh-oh replacement after I dropped the m9, one a toasted ROM after the OTA Tmo update fried it) and the attendant hassle of switching handsets, I'm not anxious to do it more than once more.

So, still in wait and watch (and lust!) mode....
