I had started this in the Lounge under a different title, but thought it may keep the mods happy if I restart this here.

I, like many thousands of cell phone users, will become first time Android users in a couple of weeks, with VZW's release of the Droids (hmmm, I call movie rights! )

Please share your insightful tips to make our adaptation of this wondrous new technology efficient and effective.

On the line is two Google Voice invites. I'll be giving my two GV invites to the two best ideas. Being a newbie... I will need everyone's help if you're so inclined. Please feel free to chime in on any tips you agree as being most valuable.

Just in time for trick or treat, I'll decide who gets my GV invites on 10/31.

tia for playing along :D

carried over from prev post:

I don't want your invite (have some already) but like the challenge...

Something that many new users forgot until they get used to it....long press. It's like right clicking in most cases. It brings up a menu for where you are at in many cases. Home Screen has one, Contacts in any place they exist esp. new in Android 2.0 will have this feature, and many apps have this ability. Remember to long press. In the same arena, always press "Menu" in various screens to see what you get, it too contains various options in many apps.

I look forward to the other answers.

Recovery Mode - Turn your phone completely off. Hold the home button and hit power while continuing to hold home. This will bring you into recovery. You can wipe and manually update your phone from here among other things.

Hi, I just tried this, how long should you hold the Home button for?

I held the home button, pressed and let go of the power button but kept the home button pressed, a picture of a Triangle with an explanation mark in it and a phone underneath it came up and I let go of the home button

It just stayed like this, I has to take the battery out as it was completly unresponsive.

Could this be Orange locking functionality down? Or just me not doing it right?
