Anyone using leak v.1-3 get the OTA yet?

I'm not convinced that's the case. Seems like the OTA has a few more features not available in the v.3 leak. Also, there are quite a few v.3 leak users with the silent call issue--a major deal breaker IMO. (I've got it too on v.2 and it's a pain to deal with.) I hope that the OTA would've solved the silent phone problem and I haven't seen any threads about that issue with OTA users.

The 50% time w/o signal is more a less a non-issue as OTD has detailed. I have found the same to be true that if you ignore it, it goes away.

I am still hoping that us leak users (early adopters, beta testers?) will be granted the official OTA so that we won't be wondering if our issues are due to the leak. At least with an official OTA update, we can officially complain to VZ and HTC.

Posters with this question are all over the place. Thought I'd start a thread to sere if anyone with a leaked version had gotten the official ota. I'm on v.2 and nada.

Your not going to with the way the ota update is written. There is a block in the program that ask's if it cupcake(1.5) yes update no fail. Untill they change that we will not get it. There are ppl working on it. Just going to take some time. REMEMBER nobody made you put that leak on your phone.

There is no way to flash the 2.1 OTA because from what I've read that when you do the update for 2.1 it keeps the bootloader the same. So do the math the leak upgraded to a different and higher bootloader similar to the ones that the Desire and the Incredible.

Leakers would have to get root and downgrade to the 1.5 rom and then load the hboot file to the device via adb commands and then we will be able to do the 2.1 OTA but your best bet it to upgrade to the Leak v3 since the checksum is 99.9% close to the OTA. But be careful because if something happens to your phone like a broken earpiece or a wacky track ball you would have to make sure that when you take it in that they dont look at the software because they can compare the ones on the computer and they would say that it is supposed to look like this 2.1 UPDATE-1.

I have a 2.1v3 phone and a 2.1OTA phone side by side. If challenge you to tell the difference besides the phone number, MEID, PRL or HDBOOT.

You won't be able to because there is none.

That is not true. I have a 2.1 OTA and it doesn't report that way.

Same question as previous poster: No difference in functionality, features, etc.? All apps that need it have full access to links and internet? No silent call problem on either one?

Not that I can tell. I have not had the silent call problem on either phone but I have a tendancy to use a Moto Droid more because it is the number that most people know.

The OTA and LV3 are almost identicle. The only slight difference is the boot number, the leak is a higher number than 1.5 and the OTA. Other than that there is No difference. The extra features list on the VZW Pdf are not found on anything for the Eris at this time. There may be a patch for that stuff in the future, but it isn't availabe now.

Unfortunately, if you have issues with your phone now the OTA isn't going to fix them. As far as anyone can tell the major problems, like the silent call issue, is more hardware related than OS related. It is believed that 2.1 opened up something that was not there in 1.5 and started the problem.

VZW has stated over and over that everyone on a leak will get the OTA. We will probably have to download and manually install it, but we are supposed to be able to get it. Personally, I have as much faith in that as I do the accuracy of the Pdf. If you still have problems after the OTA, you can always replace the phone under warranty.

Here is the question I have to pose. Why did they not update the HBOOT to the leak version? My theory is that some of the issues in Leak V3 might be caused by newer boot loader. I know its a stretch but anything is possible also not updating the hboot would allow the phone to be flashed back to 1.5 if needed would it not?
