So I searched around and I seen that December 6 is the day when Android Nougat is official. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on when this phone might get the update.
I would think the stylo 2 would be considered before this device.
It has an octocore cpu and seems more prone to an updated os. This device works better with lp and although mm works it is taxed doing so.
I wouldn't expect it to come to Boost or VM devices with 1GB of RAM... I'm not sure of the minimal requirements but they'd have to strip a lot of bloatware.
The og firmware version phone handles the 6.0 better than the "J" ones version. Both firmwares do have better battery life on 5.0. I stashed my og with 5.0 on it for our backup phone and my edc is the "j" one with 6.0. The wife has the stylo 2 with 6.0 unrooted And waiting for nougat.
So untill a better user friendly one comes along we should be good for a while.
I've been with Boost for two years but I'm looking at the ZTE ZMax Pro on Metro (6in 1080p screen ). Nougat is rumored for it... currently no root tho.

My Boost Stylo works slightly better on MM than it ever did with LP, even with my phone being rooted (LP) and bloatware removed and now running stock MM.
I bought mine with LP but the MM update was already out so I was excited to update as soon as I got home. Heh... The thrill of having the latest OS was short lived when I read about the lack of root. I almost don't miss it anymore tho...

I think Nougat could be nice on this phone. It is reported to have better dual screen capabilities and better memory management. What I'd really like to see on Android devices in general is the ability to use multiple apps in floating windows natively.

OT: Dual screen on other than Samsung tablets is a smooth move on Google's part. Even the apps your device say don't work, work if you have one that does open and split there first.
