Build.prop problem

Good morning, don't ask me why (because I don't know) but I replaced my build.prop file on Huawei G6 with the build.prop of a HTC Sensation XL. The result? ..of course the G6 is dead! Any of you can be able to perform miracles?

PS: I don't have any recovery, but I have the original build.prop file.

Welcome to AF, @MrFolle...

Sorry to hear about your soft-bricked device ...if you don't have adb available to you (i.e., via a custom recovery) or can't otherwise access your device normally (adb access in "normal" Android), I'm guessing you'd need to re-flash your system software to get that file back to it's stock setting (yeah, seems extreme, but it is what it is...).

I don't have any experience with your particular device, so I can't advise on how to go about re-flashing, but I can move your thread to our general root area (your own device's root area, http://androidforums.com/forums/root-huawei-ascend-g6.2652/, is a bit of a ghost town, I'm afraid) to see if anyone else has an idea or suggestions.

Does the phone turn on at all or does it turn on then reboots / shuts itself down

Quick point of advice: NEVER mess with the build.prop file unless it is 100% necessary. As you are seeing now, messing with this file can bring back catastrophic results.

If you can get into your bootloader (called hboot on HTC devices), then you can flash the stock firmware (called an RUU package on HTC devices). The question becomes...is there an RUU posted on the web which matches, or is newer than, the OS version you were currently running on your device. Typically, you can't flash an older package on an HTC.

I'm not exactly familiar with this type of device, but a recovery image is essential! That way if anything like this happens, you have an option to resort to to fix it. I'm not sure if TWRP or CWM is available for your device, but if it is, and if you don't mind throwing your warranty out the window, you can just wipe the /system partition and make a backup of your data. Then you can flash back to stock. Again, i've never seen, owned, or have gotten my hands on your phone before, so i'm not familiar with how that process works, but i'm certain there is a way you can flash back to stock. All you need is your phones firmware package and your phones download utility on your pc (i think).

Also, rooting in and of itself does NOT void your warranty...

Haha good point, I misread the OP, nice catch there SA. Ah well, its kind of a necro thread anyway but maybe the OP will stop back. If so, most Huawei's can be flashed via an update.app file (stock firmware package) placed on the sdcard while booted into the bootloader. Try pressing power and either volume up or volume down while the phone is powered off. Sometimes it works to press all 3 buttons at the same time, Huawei's are glitchy about forcing bootloader in my experience.

So now you're in search of an update.app package instead. Nice thing about Huawei is you can likely go backwards on the version if necessary, then ota your way back to current.
