Yeah, I really want Android and not the G1. I don't think that I am that desperate though. Hopeful but not desperate enough. I wish that it was legit. I hope that someone is able to flash Android onto a WM phone. Please someone do this!

The PC Mag guy was fleeced by a dude who showed up at their offices carrying a freaky asia-only phone that he bought from god knows where. The only statement the article makes that doesn't contain 'will be', 'was supposed to be', or 'Nowlin said' is that the dude showed up with a goofy phone running a goofy OS.

It takes a scammer with balls to go into PC Mag personally in order to legitimize his scam, but apparently this scammer has them.

He's COUNTING on you being really hopeful. Be really skeptical instead.

If he IS a legitimate entrepreneur just having a hard time starting his business, then he's still too incompetent to get you your phone within a year of you sending him your money. Just look at that web site... my god.

its not a scam, ive done lots of mfgt in china. this is def a chinese company trying to bring a new product to the usa and trying to give themselves an american look and feel. seen sites and companies like this a thousand times. while their product may be junk, or maybe twice as good as htc ... you shouldn't start making up stories till u know what ur talking about. unless ur an obama supporter, then it's just a-typical of you.

I believe that this is a real company trying to do business.

I also believe that they are not a credible or reliable source. And yes, I too get to deal with manufacturing in China. So I know that there are good and bad things when working with China.

And are you honestly trying to say that from what you can see from their site that they look like a reputable company? Because then I would question your judgment. Then I will try and sell you my old phone. "it has new competitive processor, built in not separate camera for photos, with memory card you can remove and replace for storage"

As a developer I'd get one in a second if it was cheaper, just as a second unit with different screen size for crosschecking applications. It would be nice to KNOW an app will work on whatever new phone comes out.

As a phone user, though, no freekin' way.

Chinese rip off? C'mon ... where do you think the HTC phones are made ... oh wait a second ... Taiwan the Republic of China. And about 90% of product "made in taiwan" come from the mainland of China, as the labor rates are about 1/4 they are in Taiwan.

Like I said ... I've seen hundreds of companies come to the market with products like this and don't be surprised if this phone is the next G2. You think HTC, Dell, Sony and 1,000 other companies don't move into these shops and take them over and badge them as their own brand ... of course they do.

I think it's funny when I see people read should I get a Dell, Compaq, Sony blah blah computer. Each one of those companies buys their technologies from the same sources the other ones buys. You think they make all the parts themselves? You're last week Dell is now today's Compaq's factory and vice versa ... and it never ends.

Guys I would bet a nice chunk of change this guys legit ... small ... but legit. I can't tell you how many times I've seen this before.

I'm not talking about the quality of the phone at all - I have no doubt that it's a real phone made in a real factory that also makes them for lots of 'real' big name companies. It's the fact that one guy buying from the factory is claiming they will run android, when he's obviously got no dev or even a QA team of his own to make sure they REALLY do.

This is a guy who found out where to buy a phone wholesale in China and is now taking it to the public to get a bunch of orders to finance the actual R&D it's going to take to make it work the way he's saying it already does.

You give him your money, and a year later - after a few 'production delays' - you might get a phone if his money doesn't run out or he doesn't come up with a new get rich quick scheme in the meanwhile.

If "Dell" wants to buy the phones from them, put their logo on it, and sell them to me as a customer thats perfectly fine. I get Dell to do the communication and quality control. But directly, as a customer, why would i take on that risk myself? Because if I have a problem, I deal with Dell.

And I DO deal with China for production of some of my companys products. And I DO NOT wish that on anyone.

Oh if only one of my co-workers that sits behind me could saw this thread. She's a lady in her 70's who regularly goes on rants about the world with which we live in - "China" being one of her biggest trigger words.

Fortunately though, for my sake, she won't.
