Help Help! Phone doing stuff on it's own.

Greetings, I own a HTC Desire 530 and recently it has been acting really weird. List of the things it does:

1) On Google Chrome it would randomly frequently close and reopen the tab I have opened (sometimes even moving it around the other tabs) without me doing anything ( seriously, I would leave it on the table and watch it do it out of nowhere).

2) Durring calls it would randomly frequently turn speakers on.

3) When the screen is off and its not being used, it would randomly turn the screen on and keep it like that until I do it manually.

4) I never had news activated during the lock screen. Suddenly, there they are.

5) Other things as well (like having flight mode even though I don't recall turning it on, or the brightness decreasing to the minimum out of nowhere).

5) The battery also seems to be draining three times faster.

I did a scan with both AVG and Lookout and found nothing. I'd also like to point out that I recently dropped it in the snow, but then I didn't see anything wrong with it, so I just cleaned it and moved on.

Why is my phone doing this? Is it a hidden virus or something? Does it have to do anything with the snow? I just bought this thing 6 months ago and I'm a student (meaning I'm broke as hell). Can't buy another one.

I've honestly heard & read others with similar problems concerning HTC devices.. Even the 610 model as well. If you run Boost Mobile Devices there is a device that costs $50 new and has lots of development involved. ZTE Warp Sync. I liked HTC early on but learned of their rampant devices last yr

They higher end models are suffering no such problems.

I think some of that snow melted into your device. HTC is not famous for waterproofing.

marcatata have you tried a factory reset? If it is some type of software issue a factory reset will make it just like when it came from the store. You'll have to reload your favorite apps though.

From the HTC site;

"If HTC Desire 530 has a persistent problem that cannot be solved, you can perform a factory reset (also called a hard reset or master reset). A factory reset reverts the phone back to its initial state—the state before you turned on the phone for the first time."

Though the description is slightly misleading: a reset will remove all user apps and data and restore settings to default, but doesn't change system software. So it returns it to the state that it would be before first use if you had bought it with the current software, but it doesn't undo any system updates you have received in the meanwhile.

But yeah, it's worth a go. It won't help if there is a hardware fault (e.g. moisture damage), but should deal with a rogue app or corrupted data.

Actually it was my wife's phones, she was an HTC fan.
