President Donald Trump...

Most of FDR's EOs created jobs and conservation areas and where benificial to the citizens of the United States.. I'll admit that Japenese Internment thing was foul though. Here's how EOs and Presidential Directives should be used. Check out this article about EOs and Presidential Directives from Heritage.org. It's a medium long read but it will positively help your understanding of these issues.

That's a great article, thanks for posting. It's by far the most informative and interesting thing I've read here, and makes a change from the polarised and acrimonious stuff that's been going on.
Anyway, it's a bit of a heavy read, but I now understand the distinction between executive and legislative powers, and what is possible through executive powers (and their abuse!)

LV, it is indeed a good article, but just be aware that heritage.org is THE conservative think-tank/organisation (read their "about" for their mission). That doesn't mean the information isn't worth reading, but the source is very far from neutral, with all that implies (although it is intelligent and well written).

Yeah thanks for the heads up. I kind of got that impression as I was reading it, but thanks for the confirmation and link.

OT: That's the joy of being a Centerist. I could care less if a good explanation comes from the Left or the Right.

I'm still a bit concerned. a bit concerned, about President Trump allowing Steve Bannon to replace the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the the Director of National Intelligence on the National Security Council. .

Who knew Mr. Bannon had so much experience?

A Veteran and a publisher... I can respect that.
I have no issue with him being a veteran, I'm just not sure that alone qualifies him for the job. The WH cites that as his experience/qualifications. I do have serious issues with the publisher part. I want NONE of his beliefs in my government. I don't have to list all he stands for, I believe we all know, but he's not at all what America needs. Ever. He should NOT be shaping policy or anything else for that matter.

This thread is about President Trump, keep it on topic.
Certainly...
President Trump recently met with the British Prime Minister, how did his meeting with her play out in the US media, and do you think President Trump is helped or hindered by the support of the British Prime Minister (as per Regan Thatcher or Bush Blair )

Who the * is drumpf?

President Trump owns his own big planes, He's got his own big houses. and his own security force. Why did Mr. Trump give that up to be President of the United States of America?

Drumpf is the way the Trump Family spelled their name back in Germany. People fail to realize that President Trump built his business from nothing. Yet they choose to not respect him.

Didn't President Trump's Father give him a million dollars and wish him well? President Trump needs to write an autobiography.
I've heard that but never looked into it. Even if his father did, the fact that President Trump was able to turn one million dollars into what he did, and having a net worth of $4.5 billion is impressive, and that's why I've never cared enough to look into it. President Trump graduated college in 1968, and assuming that's when he received one million dollars from his father, if he really did, that money would be worth $6.81 million today. How would you turn $6.81 into $4.5 billion, which is a 660.8 increase? That just shows how smart President Trump is, and I hope he runs this country with the same financial intelligence that he ran his company with.

OT: Unfortunately the United States of America is not a company. Well.. Not unfortunately actually. I'd hate to be considered an employee because I was born here.

BOT: President Donald Trump has no military background.
Money intelligence is money intelligence, that's not really OT.
Neither did obama or hillary, your point? There's been more non-military presidents than those with a military background.

OT: Tru' that, but the best did.

Does President Trump have a military advisor? He just dissed the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff so who does he listen to?

who does he listen to?

my guess.. NO one...
just the voices in his orange head.
fake rumors...

he wants YES-men (old rich men) around him..
if you dont back him and his ideas.. you out!

The current CJCS is a joke. I "know" one of the photographers who was on his staff and she said the same thing. As a military officer I can tell you that he should have been gone a while ago.
Again it's not OT, but i do agree with you that the best have a military background. The skills one learns in the military are second to none. My fiance was an Army Medic and from what she tells me she learned more there than in nursing school. The point I'm making is that you learn a lot of skills in the military to help yourself. Some are obvious like the example with my fiance, some you won't realize until years later.
