It's already available since yesterday on ebay but posting the link here will be against the rules..
Your TWRP is open as a derivative of a previous open source project.

There are no rules preventing you from posting the download link from your Android File Host account and naturally your source code link to github.com for your device tree and other changes will be expected per the usual open source licensing terms.

If you are charging for it on eBay, that's going to be an issue for hopefully obvious reasons - it's open. :)

Provide the appropriate links here and rock on.

Do you have twrp made or should I get started on it? No need to duplicate efforts.

All the people who are complaining are suckers. None of you have the skill or ability to port over a recovery yourself, and here you have a dev who doesn't even own the device who has rooted many other phones who is charging so that he can continue his work on other devices so that he can help the community and your all complaining about a punk $12. You all are entitled and do nothing for this community and want everything for free. He didn't have to release his work at all then you would have nothing but instead released it nearly the day the device was released.

Not in the least bit true ;) :).

The issue is, that you may NOT charge for open source software via the GPL license. You are also REQUIRED to post links to your publicly available source (@EarlyMon and others will correct me if I am wrong here).

Cut the entitlement I'm so sick of it man, do you go to your job and work for free. He didn't have to share anything he could have kept it to himself. Consider it a donation he is doing it so that he can continue his work on other projects since nobody seems to find the need to donate to devs anymore. Ask team win if they care if he's selling it see what they tell you!

And everyone has the ability right then why is Messi the only one in months to port twrp to the Stylo 2 plus. Nobody else could or would do it because nobody takes any notice of these mid range metro phones. He's the only one and people wanna cry and complain and act entitled but news flash $12 is a small price to pay to enjoy root and you should be happy to do it knowing that your supporting one of the only devs working on these phones. Point made!

Neither @iowabowtech nor I have made a penny for the TWRP implementations that we've put literally hundreds of hours into together and separately, nor did we pay for it before learning how.

Ditto on the rom teams I've been on and the various root mods I've provided over the years.

It's FOSS - free and open source software - and the terms of use are protected by open source licensing.

Entitled is taking a wealth of prior code for free, pulling out a modified device tree, and charging for TWRP.

It's not done.

We do not do in a barn, we do not do on Planet Narn. We could not, would not, so silly be, because it's open source you see.

Our names may be a surprise to you, but click upon them to see what's true.

That my friend is all there is, and we want the honesty to be his.

No more.

No less. ;) :)

If you can do something don't hold back :p

I'm quite confident you know how GPLv3 works so the arrogant tone is not so convincing. Whoever purchased a copy of this recovery, 99.9% of which was made possible by the hard work of TeamWin and other contributors, should request a copy of the work. You have the right to do so. And he has the obligation to provide it.

This is sad to see. I'm not against selling closed source proprietary software whatsoever. And yeah, people don't seem to donate as much as they used to. I get that as well as anyone having done plenty of my own projects including TWRP for multiple devices. But selling open source like this...dude, c'mon. I hope you really need the money as desperately as it seems you do.

BTW - if you own this device and want our help, we'll need some details to begin.

I have a discovery script specifically for this sort of thing along with instructions at https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/development/discovery-looking-info-to-try-to-t3312325

No personal information is grabbed, it can be done on the phone, you will see the output for yourself, root and special skills are not required.

Because I wrote that one for the honor 5x, it's marked as such but that's not a big deal ok.

If you don't have an xda account, no big deal, let me know and I'll port it over here. (As time permits, I'm sitting with a sick family member, so patience is appreciated. I think that this qualifies as not holding back. :D)

In any case, please post the hastebin link here for us, not in the xda thread (different phone there).

Any questions, please say. :)

PS - I have versions of the discovery script for a number of different architectures, I chose the one most probable to work for what we need to know - or it will indicate what version is needed if this one misses some of the info.

Here's a link to my dump following your instructions https://hastebin.com/qerirasexu.makefile. Edited because first link was wrong. Now includes build props =)
