Changing default browser for Google Now...?

Usually when there are two or more apps that do the same thing, you get a window popup asking you which one to choose as the Default.

that is the only place I am aware of that you can assign the default app for a function.

if that window is not showing for you, go to

Setup/Applications/Default Apps

and clear them all out.
that will force the popup window to return once again.

I just looked at my phone and it says "None Set as Default"
which I knew already, because I choose a different browser app depending on what I am doing.

If I touch that line, it opens up a new window and allows me to choose from:
  • Internet ( a Samsung app )
  • Chrome
  • Adblock Browser
  • Ghostery
so, that just might be the answer you need, follow the steps above.

I may have found another answer. When you go to settings/apps, click on any browser and at the bottom it says "open by default". Click on it if it has any defaults set. Click clear defaults. Do this for all browsers and possibly Google now or Google app if needed. This restored my browser option. I'm on Nexus 5 with 7.1 nougat.

Sorry to necro an old thread, but this thread is the first answer that pop up when search with Google and the correct answer is not here. Hopefully this will help someone down the road so they won't spend too much time looking for the answer like I did.

Go to the Setting in Google Now app. Press on Account & Privacy. Turn off "Open webpage in app". Now when you open a feed, it will be opened in external browser. If you happen to set Chrome as default external browser, then follow the instruction posted in the earlier replies to change to something else.
