What happened to "Nougat"?

I only got as far as the N @TooHip
@markdoc Welcome to Nougat.Split-screen is the coolest thing about it. Your heat levels sound normal to me. It's that Quick Charge that does it.

Try taping on the "N" 5 or 6 times quickly then keep contact with the "N" until the Cat face appears. That's how I got it to work.

I'm just happy you got Nougat.
Easter eggs are cool and all but I just buy games.

OT : So, if you were going to upgrade from the 10 would you go with LG or Samsung?

For the first time, I'm keeping my "10" for a while. I love the earphone audio. I don't know much about LG phones anymore and I don't like the glass bodies of Samsung. I saw a drop test of Samsung Galaxy 7 vs the HTC 10 using a drop machine. The Samsung lasted through 3 drops, the HTC over 20.

Yeah, not anything very impressive in Audio development so far this year and the 10 is a great all around product. Samsung might do something since their acquisition of Harmon but I'd expect it to be in the next Note model not S series.

Rumor is the HTC 11 will be called HTC U but I haven't read anything about the return of stereo speakers. I really dig those stereo speakers on my M8.

Anybody have issues with not being able to open the Play Store after updating?
Also, how the heck do you turn off peeking without completely discarding all notification for that app?!?! Verizon
I have the Play Store problem and solved it. First, Google says it's a known issue but they don't know when it will be fixed. They said it could be weeks or even months. The fix is easy. Go into the App Manager and uninstall the updates for the "Google Play Store" . Give it a little time (a few minutes) and it will reinstall itself and fix the problem. Unfortunately it has returned with me, but uninstalling the updates has worked each time.

I pretty sure the "U" and the "11" are different phones but could be within the "U" model line. Now there are two models within the "U" line and one is already advertised on the HTC website. There are two models, the U Ultra and the U Play. The "11" release date isn't known. Supposedly, it will have the faster Snapdragon 835 chip and I just read that it may be named the U Vibe. So you were right. I am just trying to clarify, I don't mean to offend.

Hmmm, now other apps won't load because they can't communicate with the play store...
That happened to me too. My email app locked up. I was frantic. Try restarting your phone to speed up the process. I called Google and they wouldn't give me a link to download a new app and I couldn't find one myself. There is a website that has older versions of most apps. I just don't remember the address. Google originally told me to do a factory reset. When I questioned them further, they said that may not work either. I found out about uninstalling by accident. Like I said, its worked twice for me so far. Try the restart. Let me know how it goes.

No dice. When I get home I'm going to finish backing up my photos via Wi-Fi and hit it with a factory reset. Wish me luck!
*goes and researches root/ROM options...
I'm really sorry. One last ditch effort before the reset. Go back to App Manager and Google Play Store. Under "Storage", clear the "Cache" and "Data". Then do a Forced Stop and restart the phone one last time and give it five minutes. I did these steps one at a time, the first time the Google Store stopped working. Good luck.

What a bag of crap. The factory reset worked from the fact that I could connect to the Play Store but after about an hour my keyboard disappeared and I was stuck with voice to text only. That was fun trying to find any keyboard on an app store to load so I could go load my go-to keyboard which I hadn't loaded yet (can only get it through Aptoide).
Now my quick charger seems to be not so quick anymore...
There's been a long-standing feud between my wife and me regarding our cell phone 'luck' and I've sworn by HTC for about three years now (I currently have three HTC phones I'm using - my main phone the 10, my son uses my M8 and I use an Incredible for my MP3 player) but this is seriously ridiculous. Ugh

I am really sorry for your nightmare. I've been through similar with other phones. I just hope it eventually straightens out and you have your phone back. Technology is great when it works, but it sucks when it doesn't. A pad, pencil and push-button phone would be nice about now.

Thanks for your help. I'm sure it'll eventually sort itself out, I just expect more from HTC (not Verizon so much, LOL).

I've been loyal to HTC also. I started with the Thunderbolt, then the DNA Droid, the 8, the 9 and now the 10. I've found HTC to be useless and have counted on Verizon. Not to fix the problem but to replace the problem phone. (They replaced my "10" last week when it bricked for no reason) For fixes I've used Forums like this one. I'm sorry I couldn't have been more help. (Just a thought, have you tried "Safe Mode" during all this garbage?)

I've been loyal to HTC since the Incredible (I had that, the One, and now the 10, while hubby has stayed with Motorola this whole time).

Has anyone else found, since the update, that any time they reboot, they continuously get the HTC terms of service notification? I'm getting that EVERY SINGLE TIME I reboot. And I click my response, and it goes away, until the next time I reboot.

I'm not getting the problem. However whenever I get weird stuff like that, the first thing I try is to clear out the phone's cache partition. It's a little involved but pretty safe. (I've never bricked my phone doing it)

To wipe the cache partition, follow these steps:

Be sure the phone is off.
Press and hold the Volume Down key.
Turn the phone on by pressing the Power key until the phone vibrates, then release Power.
Continue holding the Volume Down key.
Release the Volume Down button when the black screen with red and blue lines of text appears.

Press the Volume Down button repeatedly until reboot to bootloader is highlighted, then select it with the Power button.
The device will display a white screen with colored text.

Press the Volume Down button repeatedly until BOOT TO RECOVERY MODE is highlighted, then select it with the Powerbutton.
The screen will display the HTC screen, and then turn black.
(If a Red Triangle appears, hold down the power button and push Volume Up.)
After several seconds, another black screen with red and blue text will appear.
Press the Volume Down button repeatedly until wipe cache partition is highlighted, then select it with the Power button.

Press the Power key to select wipe cache partition.
Once complete, press the Power key again to select reboot system now.
The phone will start, hopefully without the Terms of Service or I would answer it one more time. Good luck!

Thanks markdoc, but I've actually cleared the cache partition twice since I upgraded to Nougat and it's still happening (once because I was clearing up some space on my phone, and once because gmail and the play store freaked out on me and wouldn't connect)

The latest thing that's happening is my WiFi connection drops overnight (I use Agent, so it goes to sleep) and then it won't reconnect to my home wifi or work wifi unless I restart the phone. Any ideas on that?

I'm in Verizon too and the only issue that Nougat caused was with Google Play. But fortunately for me, I found out how to fix it. I do use Wifi most of the time. I'm in New York City, USA and use a 100 Mbps service. No trouble with it. Other than that, the Nougat upgrade has improved or fixed a few issues I had. My speakerphone's echo has gotten much better, my phone seems faster and most importantly, I don't have the background apps missing alarms during the night anymore. I just thought of something. Do you have HTC's Boost installed. It will shutdown apps when a phone hasn't been used. Try keeping your phone plugged in overnight and in Developers Options turn on "Stay awake" when charging. It's a wild shot but maybe it will help.

Hey WhizGidget,
Did you ever solve your Terms of Service repetition? Now I've got it too.¯\_(ツ)_/¯
