HOW TO FIX No Data Connection Over USB "Device Descriptor Request Failed" (Device Running Kitkat 4.4.4)

I noticed there were a tonne of forums with this problem, but none with an actual fix - here is how I did it, no rooting required!

I am using a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 running KitKat 4.4.4 & Windows 8 on my laptop. I tried installing Kies3, unistalling Kies3, reinstalling Kies3, downloading the drivers directly for Samsung, tried other USB cables, other USB ports restarting my computer more times than a cared to count, but nothing worked. This was the solution to my problem, I hope it helps someone else too :)

PROBLEM:
Android device running Kitkat 4.4.4 or above not being recognized by your computer via USB (was working previously)

GOAL:
To allow Windows to view the contents of your android device via Explorer without KIES3

FIX: ENABLE USB DEBUGGING
1. In your android device go to SETTINGS > ABOUT DEVICE
2. Tap BUILD NUMBER 7 times (you will see "You are under developer mode")
3. Go back to SETTINGS
4. Scroll down, your will now see DEVELOPER OPTIONS
5. Turn on USB DEBUGGING
6. Connect your device via USB to your computer, and viola! You should now be able to view the contents of your device and/or micro SD card via My Computer on your pc without KIES3

Simmyrat:

The "fix" you described does not work on the Coolpad 3300a/Kk 4.4.4 nor Coolpad 5560a/Kk 4.2.2. Could you, perhaps, have another suggestion? I've been at this awhile, now, have been through dozens of 'fix" sites/articles and have not been able to find a solution. Hope you have some ideas(?)
Thanx:
Rick

Possibly the OP's "fix" will only work for Samsung devices, and not Coolpad etc.
