How do you TV?

I have Amazon Prime mostly for the shipping but do find stuff to watch, they offer a lot but some is duplicated on Netflix. The Americans is on Amazon - man, I love that show! I also really enjoyed Goliath and can't wait for season 2.

I just signed up for a free month of Hulu and won't renew it, there's just not enough there to keep me interested and I can find most of it elsewhere. I will watch The Beatles thing Ron Howard did though. I just got rid of my TV service so am using Hulu to get up to date on stuff I wanted to start watching (Empire, Lucifer, Sleepy Hollow) but couldn't find full older seasons anywhere else. So, I'll spend the month catching up then watch them on Roku/network sites as they are released the next day. It's one of my more brilliant plans actually. LOL

So, I'd still get Amazon over Hulu :)
All good points. cables much too expensive for the same re runs month in and out

All good points. i just talked with a buddy how much satellite has increased and nothing but re runs. im looking for an alternative
I did just, yesterday, ditch my TV service. It was minimal service to begin with but I finally realized I could save myself some cash and stream everything I want or need.

I already have Netflix, Amazon, MLB and NHL and use my Roku to stream them. There are Roku channels for a lot of networks and I can use my Chromecast for CBS (no Roku channel, except for news). They all have 'yesterdays' shows online (for the stuff I want anyway) so I'll just be a day behind. I can stream my local news live and NBC/CBS has national news clips available. So what if I don't see Lester setting the story up :D

I looked at the Slings and Hulus of the world and really don't think I need any of them. I'm not a huge TV watcher so will have more than enough to keep me busy with what I have now (once Hulu is gone and I'm all caught up that is!).

Well, if by "all this time" you mean a week... ;)
And a great topic it is! You have me seriously th!nking of cutting my Directv. The only th!ng is the reception in my area is bad without the connection. What would be a dependable antenna connectuon to get back on regular tv . I will be subscribing to Amazon and other streaming.

Yeah. That's my problem here. I don't get OTA at all and the indoor antennas I tried were pretty useless. My house is in a dip and the signal just isn't strong enough to pull in. I'm not going to bother with a roof setup. I'm OK with streaming everything so far though, but as I said, I'm not a huge TV-er.

Check the NewsOn app, it has my local news and tons of local news stations from all over. I added it to Roku and it works well. The station I watch streams the live news shows online so I actually just Chromecast it from their site. If I miss it I can do NewsOn.

In my maiden voyage with no TV I'm learning all sorts of stuff and ways!

We use the TV station catch up services and we have Netflix.

Our aerial has been on the fritz for months but we watch so little OTA that we haven't bothered replacing it.

As for the UK TV license: best entertainment bargain EVER! The beeb probably does fully half the shows I watch - OK, that's not many - and whole year costs less than 1.5 times what the OP pays each month for the basic TV package that comes with his interweb - which is around what most Sky/Virgin customers pay.

Compare to that lot, it's absolutely awesome value :)

Whats the beeb? International tv

Well it's international TV for me. :D "the beeb" is a nickname for the BBC, it's sometimes called "auntie" as well. The BBC doesn't have commercials and it's funded by the TV licence.

I do watch quite a lot of BBC programmes via VPN, no TV licence in China.

I subscribe to Dish Network's 2nd tier package, occasionally subscribing to premium channels whenever they're offering a phenomenal deal. (I got 6 months of the HBO channels & the Cinemax channels for $5/month; too good to pass up. When the 6 month deal was over, I turned it off.) I also have a Roku, but I haven't paid for any channels on it, unless you count backgammon. (I'm a backgammon fiend & have probably played 10's of 1000's of games over the years. For some reason, I never get sick of person-to-person or person vs. electronics Backgammon.)

On the Dish Network DVR hard drive and the attached external hard drive, I've recorded a few hundred movies, probably close to 1000. There's almost no chance of me ever watching more than a very small percentage of what's recorded.

I have an XBox 360, which I rarely use, but most of the same apps or channels on my Roku are also available on my XBox. I've added them to the app section, but unless something happens to my Roku, I'll probably just keep using the Roku.

EDIT: OOPS! I lied! I AM paying for a subscription on Roku! I have Netflix (& Amazon Prime, if that counts!)

@Rico ANDROID You got a call from your ISP? o_O I suggest that you stop using it immediately....

I downloaded ( jurassic world) and watched it with my wife. We received a notice from our ISP that said we infringed on the rights of Universal pictures and our actions were a violation of piracy.

For information I use a VPN, ExpressVPN, mainly because of where I am, but it also means the ISP or Hollywood or Beijing etc, can't see what I'm doing online.

BTW I just realized that this Sky(UK ISP) page is still in my Firefox browser cache from when I was in the UK back in February....

A P2P torrent site blocked by Sky, but is completely accessible here in China of course. :thumbsupdroid:
