Those of us who are buying from a Sprint Store...

What time do you plan on being there? Because of being slightly paranoid with so moving parts in my purchase (carrier switch, government discount, number porting, and savings via the store), I decided to go to the local Sprint store I've been working with since the end of March, which opens at 9am. Therefore, I plan on being there at.....wait for it....wait for it....5am. Posted up right next to the door (if I'm the first one there) in a chair, with my laptop, a newspaper, and my good 'ol Blackberry 8900, lol.

Laugh your asses off , but I've never wanted something as bad as I want this device. Plus, I've never done something like this before...just want to try something new for the whole experience. I'm seriously probably going to release my inner nerd (I have social skills, which makes me a geek :D) when I get the EVO in my mitts...giving the rep a high five and an everyone else in the store.

Call me crazy for not pre-ordering, but hey it is what is.

Just out of curiosity what is your reason for not preordering if you are so excited about this device?

You can start a new line and BestBuy or RS and then go to the Sprint store and work out the discounts and other minor details. I honestly think this will be the best way to go.

I'd rather deal with the local Sprint Store...I've been bent over by Best Buy in the past...and like I mentioned before, I'm slightly paranoid and I've been in talks with the local store since the end of March. I trust them. And I just want the experience that I saw with the release of the iPhone and iPad...call me crazy. I'm not looking for advice, my plan is already set. And I know I'm not the only one who plans to buy from a Sprint store...if that was the case, I'd be a lucky bastard, lol.

I'd hate to show up on the 4th only to be told...sorry try again NEXT WEEK. That would be like a swift kick to the junk seeing how I've been coveting this phone for months.

Posting up at 5am...I doubt that would happen. If it did, that would be a swift kick to the nads. Plus within a 5 mile radius of the store I'm going to, there is a Best Buy, Radio Shack, and another Sprint Store. I believe I should be fine. And again, I crave the whole experience.

I was there at 6 (on a Sunday) for the Pre release. There were 5 people in front of me, three of which spent the night. I don't think it's a bad idea for anybody to get excited enough about a device/event to camp out for it. We each march to a different drummer.

I will have my device at a BB at 10 AM...you at least will have it a half an hour earlier. Gratz!

Thanks, I didn't think I was the only person in the U.S. that would do what I plan on doing. So you get what I'm saying in regards to the experience. On June 4th, let the beat rock!

i just switched to sprint just to get in the system, get my corporate discount in place, etc. my rep is cool as hell and said he'll set one aside for me. I asked him about the possibility of getting it the night before and he said possibly. Just get ahold of him a few days before to iron out a plan.

so, i'll stop by that store that tuesday or so and iron out a gameplan of when to get it in my hands. needless to say, i won't have to get there at 5am, but would like to get there when they open so i have all day to play with it :)

here is a question, and maybe a reason to get it through sprint.com....the blackberry 9650 was to be released or is tto be released to the public on 5/23. it was available on the sprint website yesterday, 5/16. if you ordered it throught there with the overnight shipping you will most likely have it by wednesday...i am hoping this thing shows up on the sprint site a week early as well i.e. 5/28 and will order at that time....which will mean it will arrive two or three days prior to 6/4..just a hunch and most likely discussed before

No way it comes out early. The BB Bold (9650) could be done because, frankly, few people cared. With thousands of pre-orders at BB and Radioshack, it would be hell to push the date up.

It'd be nice but seriously, just get ready for the longest 3 weeks of your life.

Pre-ordering it at BB or RS is just kind of boring. The guys at my Sprint store made a list the second the announcement went out the phone. I got phones 11 and 12 and they said the first 20 will for sure get a phone. Those 20 people will most likely be invited to a pre-release party.

If not I'll just do the whole getting there early in the morning thing. I've only done with before to get Grand Theft Auto IV and it's fun.

The store I'm working with made a list as well...I was #6. However, they are doing a "first come, first serve" deployment. Either way, getting there early and chatting with other folks that are mobile geeks sounds fun. As we say in the 'Corps...18 days and a wake up!

Since there's nothing but time between now and June 4, why not add to it hope that Evo comes out early. Pre-ordering doesn't necessarily mean first to get it so much as it means first to tag one as yours. I don't doubt that pre-orders will be able to pick up a reserved phone if this get's released early.

I'm definitely hoping the BB 9650 early release means they're just trying to get everything out of the way so Evo can show up in Sprint stores and on Sprint online. I talked to a Sprint online rep, and trust me, they're frustrated they can't get in on the pre-ordering and early sales. I think Sprint's got to release this so Sprint employees and sales can join in on the fun. The call center reps got a lot of calls this weekend so I'm sure the first thing the head honchos had to address this morning was how do we start selling this thing earlier than June 4.

Here's hoping.

BTW, I didn't pre-order because I want Sprint to handle my discount and other perks. Never trust that it gets done correctly or is easily fixed when going through a 3rd party.

Please, Sprint. Release Evo this weekend.

I pre-ordered at Radio Shack yesterday. I have to be at work at 8:30 am on June 4th so I will be stuck going over on my lunch break. I have a feeling I will be taking a very early lunch break.

I might also try my luck and swing over the night before at closing time to try and sweet talk them into just giving it to me then. Maybe pull a line about how I can't make it in the next day because of work or something...who knows.

Okay, I know many, many people pre-ordered. But there are those of us who choose not to and decided to make the transaction at a local Sprint Store, for various reasons. I just wanted to hear from those who choose the latter...I mean life is all about choices. And I made my choice based on trust, the experience, and communication with the local store I'm dealing with. With that, I know I'm not the only clown that will be standing tall at a Sprint Store on the 4th at O-dark-thirty.

Unless something changes with the various pre-order offers from BB and RS, I'll be forced to buy from a Sprint Store due to being out of contract.

As such, my office building in downtown Chicago has a Sprint Store, that isn't heavily trafficked. My thought is to visit in the next week or two, get friendly with some of the staff, and try and get a feel for what their initial stock will be and whether they'll be opening early or not.

Come launch day, I'll take an earlier train to be @ the office by 7AM and chill out in the lobby next to the Sprint store with my morning coffee. With luck, I should be able to get in and out with a new Evo before the rest of my coworkers even make it into the office!
