2.1 keyboards

Is there any swype-like keyboards that are free? I read that the shape writer is great but it's not in the market, and I downloaded slide-it but that's only a demo.

What are you talking about Shape Writer isn't available? I just searched it in the market and found it.

Hmm, I'll check again. I searched and it had 0 results. Maybe I'll try Shape Writer instead of shapewriter, lol.

somewhere on this forum or on xda someone has posted a download for swype that works, at least i am using it. not sure about any others.

Well, TBH I have Slide-IT installed. It says it's a 7 day demo(I think) but I've had it for three weeks and it still works. I like it and all but afraid one of these days it will stop working so I'd like to install one that I know will be there all the time.

Swype was free for me. Was not aware that it was even a paid app.

My phone tells me my trial is up for Swype, any idea how to remedy this? I have tried to uninstall/restart. And I just updated to 2.1 OTA...

The link I posted above will work. Everyone's trials of the beta expired and this is a working verision of swype.

the working version of swype is alot better than the beta version anyways, but nevertheless im still searching for the shapewriter anyone else found it yet for the eris???

Do you have 2.1 or 1.5 still?
Shapewriter beta for 1.5
Shapewriter for 1.6 & up

i have upgraded to the 2.1 and but i did have it on the 1.5 too so it worked both ways and not the 1.5(beta)...

I installed the Swype keyboard listed in this thread and can't get it to activate. I have it selected in the keyboard settings, but I still get the stock HTC keyboard.

I've had this same problem with every keyboard I've tried (Better, Shapewriter, etc.)

I've only had the Eris for about two weeks. It came with V1.5 and the first thing I did was upgrade to 2.1.

Any ideas? Anyone else experience this problem? It may be something real obvious and simple since I'm such a noobie to Android and the Eris.

After enabling it in the settings menu you have to select it by long pressing in any text entry box, then it will give you the option for any keyboards you have installed.
