Sadly, even with YouTube adaway, and Xposed framework, newer builds of YouTube keep trying to shove ads on me. Only thing so far that's worked was wiping the data of the app and relaunching. But I feel I shouldn't have to go through that. But we might have to, on account that Google would rather go bankrupt than admit fault to anything.
The ads I sometimes see on YouTube are streamed video ads shown before the videos. I've found they can always be skipped though. This is in a browser, not the YouTube app, using my VPN with server in Hong Kong.

Yea, it's pretty obnoxious on the app. Even if I try to cancel the video and swipe away, reloading the video it will try to press an ad on me regardless. And just like people gripe about, the ad loads immediately but then it wants to take a solid minute or two before loading the requested video.
