I am on a Samsung Galaxy S4 mini which is rooted and is flashed with TWRP, I am trying to install CM14 and i got an error 7 so i googled it and did this Link ; but now i get this error " Could not find 'META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary' in the zip file. Error installing zip file '/sdcard/cm14.zip'"
I have googled and researched massively and really need an answer that's easy to follow.

I have the same problem with my lenovo k4 note, but i've found the solution
once i got error 7, i edit updater-script by delete all assert, the when you want to zip it,
instead of choose this folder to zip
(you can see my screenshot file name: 1.jpg)
but you should zip inside of the folder, as you can see in my screenshot( filename: 2.jpg)
then zip it and flash it.
done!
hope it will work on you.

The assert lines are strictly to keep people from flashing a ROM not meant for their device, which could cause it to brick. Just so you know, that fix isn't universal and should only be used with due diligence and research beforehand. Erasing them asserts is NOT recommended but very glad to hear you had a similar problem and got it fixed that way .. this time.

Hi YotamJo, and welcome to Android forums! :)

You might want to check the date of a post, and also if it's already been answered, before taking the time and effort to type a reply. This thread is 2 years old! And it was marked as answered.

Just a friendly suggestion! :D
