How to recover contacts/sms from contact.db/sms.db files?

Dear Friends,
Earlier I had a Huawei G525-U00 Android based mobile which has become dead now. While it started malfunctioning I had backed up all the data on my mobile onto the SD card. The contact/sms details etc. are stored as contact.db/sms.db etc. files inside the backup folder.

Could someone please help me how to recover those backup files on my new mobile (motorola g4 plus) since new mobile has option to import contacts only from .vcf files and not .db files.

Thanks for your kind help.

Best Regards,
Swapnil

Which means you probably need the Huawei backup tool to restore, which won't help on a different manufacturer's phone.

I've met this problem before, but can't remember what the resolution was. Haven't time to search now, but there is at least one old thread in the forum where someone had used the Huawei backup tool and was having trouble restoring, so maybe searching the site for threads mentioning the Huawei backup tool will find something.

HELLO - LOOK FOR HUAWEI APP FOR WINDOWS
I have Huawei app for windows (called as Hisuite) already installed on my laptop. I tried hard to look for ways of decoding those .db files using it. But everytime the software asks me to connect (please correct me if I am wrong) my laptop to my Huawei device. My Huawei mobile is currently nonfunctional hence I cannot connect it to my laptop at all.
Please do let me know if I have missed out any function inside Hisuite software or if there are some intelligent methods of using Hisuite for doing my job. Apparently it seems to me that Hisuite is not helping me currently.

It might not help as your new mobile is from a different manufacturer. Are those .db files encrypted? Try using root browser app to view these .db files on Android. What is the problem with you old phone. If that is fixable then you can use that mobile in atleast some to help you in your current problem.

I am unable to open these files using root browser app. I don't know whether they are encrypted or not. My Huawei phone has a nonfunctional power and volume button as such it cannot be switched on. The Huawei service center here in India is helpless in my case since the my phone model is not sold in India as such the spare parts required for rectifying the problem are not available with the service center. I had purchased this model from Germany but now I have already left Germany.

We're you able to switch on your Huawei device?
mThe method written in the post requires working volume buttons at least. In my case both power and volume buttons are dead so the prescribed method does not work. I also tried to charge my mobile via usb connection to my laptop expecting a miraculous startup of my phone! However it did not work. If someone has any intelligent solution for powering up my currently. switched off Huawei mobile while both power and volume buttons are not working please do let me know. Thanks in advance.

Did you charge your phone with the battery removed as mentioned in the post?

Wow, Brilliant, this method works. My phone did startup with this method and I recovered my contacts and sms (as .csv files) using HiSuite (Huawei software for windows) software by connecting my mobile to laptop (with HiSuite installed on it) via USB!
Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

Now set the phone to never sleep. In the contacts app go to settings and export all contacts as .vcf in your sd card. Once you have done that put the same as card in your new phone, open the .vcf file and choose contacts app to open the file(if it asks you to choose between apps).

If you have any problems in sharing the contacts between the phones let me know.

I was able to recover all my important information (contacts, sms and notepad entries) from my old phone completely! Many many thanks for your great help.
