Help Banking App Won't Submit: Err500

My banking app has a mandatory update OS flag (from 4.1.2) which wouldn't let app execute, even older versions of it.

Using the newest APK version for my phone (7.5) changed only the version name and code to the newest app (8.6.1). Flag is gone -YAY. Now I can execute and use it but get error 500 when I try to submit the transaction to the bank. What am I doing wrong? The software executes perfectly. No warnings there. Used APK Icon Editor. Thanks.

Sounds like the app was updated for security purposes. You will probably have to update your device software possibly with a rom that supports Magisk.

Or update via stock firmware if possible.

Possibly because nobody here knows what "err500" is, except possibly your bank and/or their app developers. Have you tried contacting them about it?

Not even saying what app, what phone, whether your phone software has been modified in anyway, was not giving people much to work from either.

And I don't know "APK Icon Editor", but if it's anything that has modified the banking apk in any way then I'd try with a clean, unmodified version.

Let me try this again and be very specific. Obviously I will not be updating my OS. If I were going to do that I clearly would've just gone and done it.

I am asking how to get around this problem and still use the app. If there is no way to make the app work via editing (which I highly doubt just can't find anyone who is nonconformist enough to be as pissed as I am) then I want to know how to temporarily (per use) edit the OS version on unrooted android. I am ONLY interested in how-to help with the problem I AM trying to solve.

Of course the banks don't want people modifying the OS and their secure apps, and do take measures to prevent it from happening, which is possibly this "err500". After all with modified and hacked software, someone could hide a keylogger, and grab all personal details, steal your money, ID theft, etc. etc.

In your case we don't know what bank app it is, what phone it is, they're all different, and my crystal ball is at the dry cleaner

You still weren't wholly clear, but this time you said enough that I can infer that your problem is that you are using, either through choice or because there is no alternative for your phone, an older Android version than your banking app supports. This was absolutely not clear from your original post. This is presumably because the bank considers older versions too insecure.

The short answer is "no", you can't spoof the OS version on an unrooted phone.

Whether you can edit the app to report the wrong OS version (because if older versions of the app have the same problem the check is probably at the server end, not in the app) I don't know. If I were writing a banking system I'd apply every measure I could think of to ensure that connections from modified apps would not be accepted, for obvious reasons. But I've no idea what your bank or your app developer have done, and as we don't know which app you are talking about I don't see how anyone can possibly know for sure.
