How to backup everything of an Android device in case it's lost or stolen?

Yes I mean everything I work with the device, I want an instantaneous or regular auto backup, without having a need of using USB cable to connect to a PC to make it done. Because when I work outside I don't usually have a laptop with me but WiFi is everywhere, and a lost or stolen phone would usually only happen outside my home

Does a google account itself already backup EVERYTHING, yes everything that includes pictures, apps, data in the apps etc ??

Or will I have to assign some special setting to make it??

Please advise.

By the way, a side question - how to backup Android device wirelessly when I am in China where Google is blocked?

If you go into your phone's settings, you'll find a section called Backup & Reset. In here you'll find an option for backing up your data, including Wi-Fi passwords, preferences and app data. All of this will be tied to your Google account, which you can set to automatically restore when you re-install an app.

To enable it:

- Go to Settings, Personal, Backup and reset, and select both Backup my data and Automatic restore.

- Go to Settings, Personal, Accounts & Sync, and select your Google account.

- Select all of the option boxes listed, to ensure that all available data is synced.

Though the specific procedure may slightly vary between android devices, the process is generally the same.

hi guy

Thank you and I know this procedure.

But I'd like to know if it often creates a backup of EVERYTHING ? would it miss anything in anywhere of the phone that needs to be done separately, independently ??

If you use Google for online cloud backup, you'll need a solid reliable VPN for when you're in China, because otherwise Google is blocked here. I recommend ExpressVPN myself, and found it to be very reliable in China.

Backup procedure can vary of course depending on the whatever it is phone you've got. If you buy a phone in China, it will not have any Google services on it. So if you happen to lose the phone while you are here, replacement devices that have Google might be difficult to obtain. Maybe bring a spare phone with you?

OK , if i don't want to go through the trouble of installing and learning with VPN.

In that case is backing up to PC the only option at the end of the day?

But as soon as I connect USB to PC it most likely only transfers videos and photos, how about other data?

Do I need any third party software to make it create a full backup

I assume you got a Samsung J5. I believe you should be able to do a complete backup and restore with either Samsung Kies or Smart Switch, and these do require a PC with USB to the phone. However I've never used them myself as I don't have a Samsung device.
