Deleting photos in Google Photos

I supect that this has been asked many times before but I'm new to Android and Google photos. As far as I can see when I've "moved" (more like copied) a photo from Photos to an Album the photo (or more likely a link to it) can be deleted (sent to the bin) in either Photos or the Album which causes the photo to be removed from both Photos and the Album.
Is there any way of removing it from Photos but keeping it in the Album?
