No Google Calendar notification sound when screen locked

When the screen is locked there is no notification sound when an event reminder is due. As soon as I unlock the screen the notification sound is played. This is very unsatisfactory as an appointment can be easily missed. This is happening with my Google Calendar app on my Honor 8 Pro device. Please help me to fix it.

At first glance, I am wondering "why"?

I have a macro running that turns off both DATA, and WiFi when the screen is locked. I do that on purpose to preserve the battery.

IMO, I do not need to know that someone on FB, or Messenger has left me a message at 03:dark thirty.... so, I make that wait until I unlock the screen.

Is there a negative? yes, I don't receive Storm Warnings until long after the fact when I forget to turn the macro off on stormy days.

So, with my experience with this, I am going to suggest that you investigate if the "Internet" is being turned off somehow?

Something obviously is wrong.
Investigate the priority of the notifications for the app involved.
There is a possibility that "Notifications is off for that app".

Google Calendar works on my phone, even though the Internet is turned off, so they are maybe using the SMS function to make that happen... I am going to suggest, that this is the case.

( more post thought on this: nope, it is from the Google Calendar app itself that is installed on the phone, it sync's up with the Internet, and therefore, the app knows when to alert you. So, it needs to have Priority over the Screen Lock function. )

I have several alarms set to tell me to carry the trash bin to the street, to get on the Tread Mill and exercise my legs, etc... all of them work, and all of them come from Google Calendar.

For Google Calendar App:
Allow Notifications: On
Display in Status Bar: On
Display on Lock Screen: On
Priority Display: On

Nothing else left. Did everything.

Thank you! uninstalling and reinstalling solved the problem. i will see how it goes but as of now it is working as expected

And now, that my Post memory cells are working,

go into the Application Manager and look to see what alerts are being allowed to pop up on the locked screen.... betcha a box of stale donuts, you can find the villain there.

you know what, it is only working when i am connected to internet..Google Calendar notifications are not working when i am offline...

it is a device specific problem. looks like it's a bug in EMUI. i have raised this issue with Honor support as well and even they are clueless about it...however i have figured out a workaround...i have to use both the default(pre-installed) Calendar app and Google Calendar app in conjunction and need to setup the reminder through the default Calendar app then it is working...that is how i am using it now...hope Honor team is working on it seriously and come with with a software fix soon.
