My Windows 10 HP Notebook doesn't recognise my Android cellphone while connected into USB port.

Hi,

I don't know what you call the process of ' connecting an Android cellphone to a Windows notebook via its data/power USB cable to get navigating to the SD/Phone storage via Windows explorer"

However, when connecting my smart cellphone LT-M5_Lite with using its "DATA/Power" USB cable to my HP notebook, I didn't see that my HP notebook recognized it(nothing was listed in the 'Devices and Drives" as usual in the past). So, I couldn't get connected to my data stored on my cellphone ('SD crad' or 'Phone storage) using USB cable. Though when my cellphone was connected to my notebook, then I saw that cellphone was charging from the notebook. Which means that USB cable is functioning well.

In the past(I don't remember the exact period 'maybe two months') when connecting my Android cellphone to my Windows 10 HP notebook, then I noticed that drivers were automatically installed, and the cellphone was recognized, and there were 'LT_M5_Lite" icon, and 'LT_M5 Drivers" listed under "Devices and Drives"). So, I can navigate to the SD storage or Phone storage. I didn't remember that I did anything with my cellphone settings to cause this issue.

My Android device brand is LT_M5_Lite:
System: Android 5.1
Model: LT_M5_lite
App Version: 1.0

I have Windows 10 Home-64bit(Version 1607, build: 1493.1480) installed on my HP Pavilion dv6 notebook.

I checked out the Device Manager, and I found there are no other devices having exclamation mark(!), which means that these devices having this mark are recognized as unknown devices by my HP notebook.

This was the ID hardware "USB\VID_271D&PID_4017&REV_????&MI_00" , which was shown under my LT_M5_Lite. Should I google for this ID, and install drivers.

I checked the "open device and printer', ,and I found LT-M5 is listed there. However, this only means my Android cellphone is paired with my HP notebook via Bluetooth.
I checked the settings of my Android cellphone, and I didn't find any section to set up connecting my cellphone to notebook directly via using USB cable.

NOTE: when connecting my Android cellphone to my Windows 10 HP notebook via Bluetooth, I noticed they were paired well, and I could send and receiving files between them.

Your problem is a massive virus that goes by the name 'Windows', hahahahah! Ahem. Sorry about that, but seriously.. Drivers aren't automatically installed every ROM or every device. At least 2 things need to happen when fighting Win10 operating systems because Win10 is a punk b!tch that intentionally made working with other devices and operating systems extremely difficult. Yes, MS did this on purpose to keep ppl from development.. Truthfully you're better off using another OS like Linux which has all drivers preinstalled in the kernel/OS. So drivers are NOT required with Linux, everything works right outta the box. But since you're fighting an uphill battle with WynnDoze, try this:
-
1: Gotta disable driver signature verification 1st by going into UEFI and unchecking the verification box. Pull up the pwr menu, then holding down the Shift button and clicking restart to access UEFI settings. When PC reboots, you should be able to install and drivers successfully until next reboot (which resets the signature verification box again).
-
2. On device, change the Connect to PC settings to ' Install drivers' and follow prompts for driver installation. Once finished, reboot PC and try connecting device again..

Hope that helps!

Your phone, "LT-M5_Lite", what exactly is that, who made it? Google seems to indicate it maybe a Gionee, is that correct? And can you confirm the manufacturer, model, version and if a carrier supplied it.

Though when my cellphone was connected to my notebook, then I saw that cellphone was charging from the notebook. Which means that USB cable is functioning well.

Not necessarily, there are some USB cables that are wired for charging only, not data. Also maybe be a faulty cable, have you tried another USB cable?

Thank you so much indeed,
But bear in mind that in the past two months when connecting my Android phone into USB port on my HP pavilion dv6 notebook, I saw windows 10 Home 64-bit recognised it without needing to go through installing any drivers Since there is an already space on my phone having drivers required to define my phone when connected into a Windows notebook, I was noticing whenever connecting my phone into my Windows 10 notebook USB port there were two icons "LT_M5_Lite" and "LT_M5 drivers" shown under "Device and Drives" in my Windows 10. I no longer see them being shown anymore. When I was opening "LT_M5 drivers" assigned with a specific letter, I noticed some driver files.

I have installed a new fresh installation of Windows 10 Home 64-bit on my HP notebook, and there is no UEFI installed.
UEFI is only application which can be installed.
I did not install it. I was having it installed on OEM Windows 7. But then I made a new hard Disk structure, deleted all OEM partitions, like UEFI.
So, you meant with UEFI on my notebook or Android phone. I don't think there is UEFI on Android devices.

Was meaning UEFI on your Notebook
Thank you so much indeed, Bcrichster,
Yes, I know UEFI, which is
the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface, which is a specification that defines a software interface between an operating system and platform firmware.

However,
I installed a new fresh installation of Windows 10 Home 64-bit on my HP notebook, and there is no UEFI installed.
UEFI is only application which can be installed if needed.
I did not install it. I was having it installed on OEM Windows 7. But then I made a new hard Disk structure, deleted all OEM partitions assigned to UEFI.

If the previous posters can't help you out, consider downloading a file explorer from the app store if your device doesn't already come with one. Then use Google Drive or Dropbox or something else as a middleman to move files, pics, music what have you between your device and your computer. I used to sync between my device and my computer with a cable but have recently gotten into using Google Drive. When you activate your Android device for the first time you're forced to create a Gmail address, it's this same address that is your login for Google Drive.

I read an article awhile back about some of the differences between IPhone and Android, not partisan or anything just factual. It referenced how you really don't have to sync them by cable if you don't ever want to, just use a middleman program to move files between the two.

Having said "Your phone, "LT-M5_Lite", what exactly is that, who made it? Google seems to indicate it maybe a Gionee, is that correct? " is good notice which I noticed while preparing this thread of mine, in particular in selecting "What brand is your device?". Thus, I skipped that question because my cellphone brand had not been one of the cellphones/devices brands had been listed in the drop-down menu.
What I know about my cellphone is as follows:

The manufacturer: China
The model: LT_M5_Lite
The version: I only found "Build number", [SW version]LT_M5_Lite 0205_V5772
[HW version] LT_M5_Lite Mainboard_P2
Kernel version: 3.10.65+
Hardware information: CPU model: AArch64 processor rev3
System: Android 5.1
App Version: 1.0

The carrier: it supports two SIMs(CDMA&GSM). A dual SIM.
SIM1: YemenMobile, cellular network type: CDMA
SIM2: SabaFon, cellular network type: Edge.

Thus, I don't even know where is my cellphone's manufacturer website.
I don't know if it indicates to Gionee or not since there is no "Gionee" mentioned in information about phone in it's settings.

I have goolged for Gionee Marathon M5 Lite_ serial number xxxx.
But I didn't ft find my exact phone specs.
I have removed SN for saving my privacy. If that would help you google for my exact phone, I would give you the SN. I need the exact specs of my cellphone.

Moreover, could you let me know what you call the process of ' connecting an Android cellphone to a Windows notebook via its data/power USB cable to get navigating to the SD/Phone storage via Windows explorer".
When connecting my cellphone into a USB port on my HP notebook, I was asked as to how to use this phone, and I was given as two things I couldn't remember.

Not necessarily, there are some USB cables that are wired for charging only, not data. Also maybe be a faulty cable, have you tried another USB cable?
I was using the same USB cable for both charging and Data. I don't have any USB cable dedicated to charging only or data only.
If cable was faulty, then why
when connecting my cellphone into a USB port on my HP notebook or connecting the USB end of cable into adapter power, and plugging the adapter power into mains socket, I saw that it was charging well, which means USB cable was properly functioning.

The Gionee Marathon M5 Lite is this one.
http://www.gsmarena.com/gionee_marathon_m5_lite-7803.php
Gionee devices I've seen always have it stamped on the back and is also stated in system information.

However I did find this for LT M5 Lite.
http://ltmobile.blogspot.com/2016/04/m5-lite-lt.html
It looks extremely similar to the Gionee Marathon M5 Lite, so either Gionee made it, or very possibly it's knock-off. It's on an anonymous free Blogger site which doesn't hold much credibility for "LT Mobile", and is all in Arabic.

One of the options you should see is "MTP mode" or "File mode" or similar. That's what you need to connect it to a computer.
Also, the most strange is when connecting my cellphone into a USB port on my HP notebook, I saw that it was charging through notebook, which means USB cable was properly functioning.

A phone could be charging, but not have a good data connection to the computer though, say if the USB cable was faulty or not completely wired. Have you actually tried another known good USB cable, or even tried it on a different computer?

I found your result for for LT M5 Lite in your second link is similar to my cellphone whose specs is below. However, I don't trust specs written in Arabic. They always say specs are not available in reality. So, could you give me the official manufacturer website of my cellphone in English using my serial number given above?
These specs below I have gathered from my phone settings:

Phone storage(ROM) : 16 GB
RAM: 2 GB

I have neither tried it on another notebook, nor have I tried another known good USB cable since both are not in hand.
I was using the same USB cable for both charging and Data. I don't have any USB cable dedicated to charging only or data only.
You think cable have no good data connection to the computer. This is the official Gionee India page for their Marathon M5 Lite, their other site is Chinese only.
https://gionee.co.in/smartphones/marathon-series/gionee-m5-lite

Can't find much at all for this LT Mobile M5 Lite one though, apart from that Arabic Blogger site I posted earlier. Gionee is a legitimate Chinese OEM and does make devices for other companies, or the LT Mobile is a knock-off, and quite frankly I think it's the latter.

Thing is, that doesn't necessarily mean it's properly functioning at all, and you really need to try another known good USB cable with it.
There's four connections in a USB cable, two connections are for power for charging the phone, and two connections are for data between the computer and phone, and if those are disconnected or have a bad connection, it won't work for data transfers, but the phone will still charge. USB cables can and do go bad.

There two ends on USB cable I use, one end is wired into cellphone. The second one is either wired into a notebook USB port, or into the adapter power port, which then is plugged into main socket(see screen shot appended)
Thus, you think the second end of USB cable has four connections, two connections are for power for charging the phone, and two connections are for data between the computer and phone.(see screen shots appended)
If so, why are there four connections shown in the adapter power port? No need for the two connections for data in the adapter power port since the adapter power is used to be plugged into mains socket.

Quite frankly I do think it's a counterfeit of the Gionee Marathon, from the little information available. And so there's isn't really any information for this "LT Mobile" one. Chinese fakes of Chinese brands do exist. Who exactly is "LT Mobile", are they in Yemen?

Because you might want to use the same cable that came with the charger for connecting to a computer, and standard USB plugs and jacks always have four contacts. The outer two contacts are for power(plus and ground), and the inner contacts are for data, which a charger doesn't use.
USB.jpg

As a result, you think USB cables used for charging only or data only have two connections.

Actually there are some USB cables that are wired for charging only and have two connections, and data isn't connected at all. The ones I've seen have a much thinner and flimsy wire, and are usually cheapo, their USB plugs still have four contacts but are not connected internally. And for those you'd get no response from the computer at all when connecting the phone, as it's only supplying power to the phone to charge it. USB cables can and do go faulty with use, and become disconnected.

Could even be the phone itself is faulty and has a bad USB port or something else wrong with it, especially given that it could very well be a knock-off.
But that's only really provable with another known good USB cable or another phone.

The LT mobile agency is really in Yemen. But that doesn't mean that Yemeni people made it, however it was made by Chinese company. So, How could I get to the specs of my LT cellphone on the official website of Chinese made this LT mobile for Yemeni agent using my model name and serial number given before? I even didn't see any option to search for my LT model or serial number on the official website you mentioned before.
Imagine, I had purchased an LT cellphone from this official Gionee India page for their Marathon M5 Lite,
https://gionee.co.in/smartphones/marathon-series/gionee-m5-lite, I couldn't have searched for it by it's model name and serial number in the future if needed.
BTW, I could purchase LT mobile from this official Gionee India page
https://gionee.co.in/smartphones/marathon-series/gionee-m5-lite, and pay for it by my billing address in Yemen and they could ship it to Yemen?

LT is not as worldwide brand as Samsung, Sonia Arcson, LG, etc... It is only well-known in Yemen. The majority of people in Yemen preferred the LT mobiles since the LT mobiles have a dual SIM with CDMA & GSM which can work simultaneously. There are two types of mobile networks(two cellular network types) in Yemen, CDMA(Yemen Mobile, which is a goverment-supported network) and GSM (SabaFon, MTN, Wai, which are non-goverment-supported networks).
However, all famous brands like LG, Samsung, etc. have either CDMA or GSM. I have never ever seen famous smartphone brands have both CDMA & GSM. If I had..., I would have purchased....

What you mean with "standard USB plugs and jacks"?
The adapter power that came with my LT cellphone as a part of USB cable also has a standard USB port into which the standard USB side is wired/plugged. (Have you seen my previous screen shots for adapter power and USB cable?)

What do you call the ones USB ends in the left half of your photo(I call them "the first USB side to be wired/pugged into cellphone" and the second USB side of cable to be wired/plugged into a computer USB port"), what you call the one ports in the right half of your photo( I call the first one over with adapter power USB port, and the second under with cellphone port)

Glad ya got it sorted out with another cable. Keeping the other cable is up to you. It is better to always have good cables as to make sure you don't have a short which could fry something that shouldn't be subjected to, you could lose something important. So.. Are there important things you want to keep on that device worth a good cable? I recommend throwing bad cables away

Thanks a lot,
But I did find out that my cellphone was charging with an upward count using the new USB cable called "Ph"(2.4A), whose photo was the first one attached previously, and wired to LT adapter power which then was plugged into main socket. Then, when charging percentage is 7%, suddenly, the charging got back countdown until it reached to 0% of charging and my cellphone shut down.
Note: I have wired the new USB cable to the old LT adapter power(screen shot attached below) since I only purchased the USB cable without it's adapter power.
The LT Adapter power has output 5v-~1.0A.
The LT adapter power, along with its combined USB cable which got faulty in data transferring contacts, is below.

The new Ph USB cable has a sticker on which 2.4A is typed. Screen shot below.

Quite frankly I do think it's a counterfeit of the Gionee Marathon, from the little information available. And so there's isn't really any information for this "LT Mobile" one. Chinese fakes of Chinese brands do exist. Who exactly is "LT Mobile", are they in Yemen

Thank you very much indeed,
Even if I have given you this new information for my cellphone, you will still not get to the complete exact specs of my LT mobile on the official manfucture website
Model : LT_M5_Lite
IMEI: 866743021056757
MEID: A100005018632B
S/N: M5LITE05160010676
Designed by LT Mobile
Made in China.

This serial number JBHAVS 9999999999" found in the "setting >hardware information"was not my real SN since I found another one "M5LITE05160010676" typed on the built in battery when I opened my phone.

The serial number on the battery may be the batter's SN as the phone's actual SN is usually on the device itself but UNDER the battery. I'm unfortunately ignorant of Chinese manufacturing and their regulations but I Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot,
Bcrichster,
The battery of my cellphone is fixed(not removable), and there are two SNs, the first upper one which is typed near to the battery information is for battery. It is as follows S/N: N4000030316. However, the other one is situated in bottom on side of battery is for cellphone. The battery is as follows and doesn't begin with 'M5LITE"

The information for battery is engraved on the battery, but not written on a sticker.

Look at this information for SN, IMEI, MEID typed on sticker the bottom of battery.(Screen shot below), you will see two SNs.
Model : LT_M5_Lite
IMEI: 866743021056757

Specs of Cellphone typed in the battery.jpg

Look at the information of serial number shown in the settings of Android system as my cellphone serial number (screen shot below):
Serial number.jpg

Look at the information of IMEI, MEID in the settings of Android system (screen shot below):
IMID information.jpg
In comparison to the information typed in the the battery, and information shown in the settings of Android system, you will see that
Firstly: serial number typed in the battery as my cellphone serial number is different than the one shown in the settings of Android system. So, I think that this serial number "JBHAVS 9999999999" found in the "setting >hardware information" is not my real SN.

Secondly: The serial number typed in the battery as my cellphone serial number is different from the one shown in the settings of Android system. However, the IMEI and MEID typed in the battery, and IMEI and MEID shown in the settings of Android system are the same. I think JBHAVS 9999999999" is my Cellphone serial number.

Finally, You don't know what are the "IMEI" "MEID" for and what do they stand for?

Could you please reply to me?
First of all, I found the USB port on the phone was really broken, and when I fixed it, I found my Windows HP notebook recognised my cellphone using my old USB cable.

Frankly I don't know what's going on with the numbers there, "9999999999" doesn't sound valid for anything. Given the anonymity of the manufacturer this phone, I'm pretty sure it isn't a Gionee, anything is possible. The IMEI, MEID and the printed serial number S/N seem to be OK from appearance though.

Finally, You don't know what are the "IMEI" "MEID" for and what do they stand for?

IMEI means International Mobile Equipment Identity, which is for GSM 2G, HDSPA 3G networks.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Mobile_Station_Equipment_Identity
MEID means Mobile Equipment IDentifier, which is used for CDMA/EVDO networks. Which does go with what you posted previously: "SIM1: YemenMobile, cellular network type: CDMA"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_equipment_identifier

These are quite a lot of points of mine below. But I hope these would be my final inquiries.

Firstly: Yes, but now you have the model name, IMEI, MEID and the printed serial number S/N of my cellphone. So, as long as my cellphone is designed by LT Mobile, and made in China, could you let me get to my cellphone's manufacturer official website? Even if it isn't a Gionee, I think it must have a manufacturer official website from which I can download its drivers and checking out its detail specs?

Secondly: why do you think when typing in '*#063', then my Android system gave me twice similar IMEI, and MEID?

Thirdly: why do you think when typing '*#063' in, then my Android system only gave me twice similar IMEI, MEID, and didn't give me any SN. Though the same IMEI, MEID shown by typing '*#063' in , and SN are printed on the battery?

Fourthly: do you think that when typing in '*#063' in any Android cellphone, then I will be given IMEI, MEID?

Fourthly: do you know any famous cellphone brands, such as Samsung, LG, Sonya Arcons, etc, having (dual SIM), two types of cellular network : CDMA/EVDO", and GSM 2G, HDSPA 3G networks, which can be functioning simultaneously?

Fifthly: I only know the cellular network type "CDMA" which goes with, for example 'Yemen mobile', and GSM, which goes with, for instance, SabaFon, MTN, Wai. However, What kinds of SIM carrier can go with EVDO?

Sixthly : what do you call the USB port of cellphone, which was broken(defective)? You call it a power jack? I can it a power jack on my HP notebook? It costed me about US $9.5 with fixing service???? Though I know how to fix my HP notebook power jack if defective. But, I have never ever tried to take apart any cellphone at all.

Finally: When connecting my LT mobile to my Windows HP notebook using USB cable branded with a Ph( a non- LT-branded USB cable- Screen shot below) purchased from the market, I found my Windows HP notebook recognized my cellphone and there is icon of "LT-M5 Lite" shown under my 'device and drivers'. However, my LT mobile icon was not shown in the "safely remove hardware and media". Though it was listed in the "Devices and Printer". So, I couldn't click on "eject this my cellphone". So, I had to remove my cellphone from my HP notebook without removing it safely.

However, When connecting my LT mobile to my Windows HP notebook using USB cable branded with a LT(screen shot below), then my Windows HP notebook recognised my cellphone and there is icon of "LT-M5 Lite" shown under my 'device and drivers'. Also, my LT mobile icon was shown in the "safely remove hardware and media".. So, I can click on "eject this device", and then remove it safely. Though even when removing it safely, I can still access files on the media as long as it has been still connected to the HP notebook.

Also, When connecting my LT mobile to my Windows HP notebook using its USB cable that came with it or using another USB cable branded with a LT(screen shot below) purchased from a market, my Windows HP notebook recognised my cellphone and there was icon of "LT-M5 Lite" shown under my 'device and drivers'. However, my LT mobile icon was NOT shown in the "safely remove hardware and media". So, I couldn't click on "eject this device" to remove it safely.
Though the connection options were shown in both cases, and LT_M5_Lite was in the "Multimedia devices".
