Help Can't answer a call?

Hi All,

This has happened a couple of times: I have the phone in my pocket and it's screen is locked, I get a call and the slide to unlock screen is there, but nothing will work for me to answer the call. No sliding in any direction will work, if I press a button it just sends the call away. I end up having to call them back.

This seems random, but it is frustrating. Anyone know of a fix?

Thanks,

Macroweb

Are you using any 3rd party call apps or task managers? I haven't had this happen. In this situation, I'd just cycle the phone (off then on) and see if it happens again. If it does, it's probably a 3rd party app causing it.

Thanks for the reply! No, no 3rd party call apps, that I know of. I have WeatherBug, and Planet Rotation (live wallpaper) running.

I wonder if the glitch hasn't something to do with live wallpaper? It seems that the last time I had this issue I had a live wallpaper running. Hmmm....

What about any 3rd party lock-screen apps?

I was just thinking this is another good reason to use appbrain. When people have problems, posting a link to a list of their currently installed apps would be hugely helpful.

Here is my list:

Thanks for the help!

I don't see anything that I would think would have any impact on the functions of the lock screen, unless it's possible for live wallpapers to interfere there at all.

My next guess would be maybe you are having a static electricity problem with your trackpad, which some people have had (usually posts related to home screens moving automatically).

I mention this because you said it happens when it is in your pocket. I've had my trackpad go a little wacky on me twice, one where it seemed to be constantly registering an "up-swipe" and once when it was "left-swipe". In both cases, this happened after I had been walking around with it in my shirt pocket for a while (which I do all the time).

Both times, just wiping down the trackpad with a cloth cleared it up for me.

This has happened just a couple of times and ONLY while attempting to answer a phone call. I really like my new Incredible and I take it out of my pocket, frequently, to tinker with it in some way or another. I would think if this were a static electricity issue it would happen at other times too.

But thanks for the help! I appreciate your efforts on my behalf.

Sincerely!

Yeah, sorry I can't be of more help.

And don't dismiss the trackpad thing just yet. I got my phone one day before launch (thanks to early shipment) and I keep my phone in my shirt pocket every single day. My trackpad has only exhibited this problem twice in that time, both times immediately after taking it out of my pocket.

No phone call of course, but I'm just saying that if it's that rare of an occurrence, I wouldn't put it past just coincidence that it happened when you received a call.

If it happens again, just give a shot at wiping off the trackpad quick and see if it helps.

It's happened to me about six times. I was wondering if anybody else had this problem. Also a problem, could not activate the speaker phone while on a call a few times.

I was gonna start a new thread, but I thought I'd just steal this one instead.

Anyone had any experiences with this? I have it happen every once in a while, and it's ridiculously annoying. Today I did a battery pull (in the middle of a concert, too) and that seemed to solve the problem, if temporarily. I'm considering doing a factory reset if the problem continues.

any help would be appreciated :)

Hello,

I often and very randomly will not be able to answer my phone. It is so frustrating to have that very important call you've been waiting for come in and you fumble with the unlock over and over and it will not slide down!

I do not use live wallpaper, so that is not the issue.

I think it is related to how important the call is to you, the more important the call the more likely it will not let you answer it.

Maybe important calls you are rushing to pick up phone and may accidentally slide thumb up screen as you pick it up just enough to activate the "ignore" function of the slider, so then it won't let you answer. Wish I could disable the ignore function to see.

This has happened to me several times too. Pita. I also had a writers one today. I swyped down and the slider went away, but the phone didn't pick up the call. Very frustrating to not have a hard key answer. Especially since the people calling were luddites that had no clue how to answer when I called them back and they were busy leaving long, pointless messages.

Just got my 2.2 update this morning and once again had the "can't answer a call" problem this afternoon. Of course it was the call I had been waiting all day for. It drives me nuts listening to the phone ring and ring and ring while I am swiping and swiping and swiping. This always happens while the phone is just sitting doing nothing. Not in my pocket or getting moved etc. Just sitting on the desk.
