Help Touchscreen doesn't work 100% when charging...

This is the 2nd time now that this has happened, and both times it has been when my phone was plugged into an outlet and charging. I was on a bus ride and had my phone charging while I was using it pretty heavily - Google Talk, web viewing, etc. Basically, some aspects of the screen would stop working. For instance, the "space bar" wouldn't register when I touched it, and certain other letters. Overall, the touch screen was pretty unresponsive. The problem only went away later after I had unplugged it for some time. During this problem, I reset the phone, reset the calibration - nothing worked.

Is this a bug? Anyone else have this problem? Thanks. Oh also, I noticed my phone was pretty hot.

I have not noticed this when charging (my wife and I both use ours in bed before we go to sleep after they have been plugged in pretty regularly).

However, I have noticed in the car that sometimes when I have the audio cable plugged in, it starts acting really weird as though I'm giving it phantom commands like trying to voice dial people and such. When this happens, I notice there is a headset icon at the top indicating I have headphones with a mic plugged in. So far, I've just messed with the audio cable until it only shows headphone with no mic on the icon, and the problem seems to go away.

Yes I have had this problem. I was trying to text and it wasnt working and also when I try and turn off the alarm when it is plugged in and charging the screen doesn't respond and takes a few tries..weird.. but not a huge issue.

I bought a generic charger kit from ebay (USB cable, car charger and AC charger) and when I use the generic AC charger, my screen does not respond to 90% of my touches.

The charger that came with the phone and the generic car charger have no issues. Only the generic AC charger has that issue. I was afraid to use it thinking it might be defective once I noticed the issue.

I had something weird happen when I was using the universal Verizon charger. The phone got really hot, and the screen was not 100% responsive (it was still working, but I wasn't getting that soft vibrate feedback I usually get when pressing keys). The battery was still draining even though it was plugged in. I rebooted, unplugged everything, replugged it all in, and it stopped. So strange! I hope it doesn't happen again, since I regularly charge it twice a day (I'm a heavy user).

Same here. I have a generic wall charger that worked fine with my BlackBerry storm, but when I plug it into my Incredible, I can't unlock the screen because it doesn't recognize my swipe down.

I bought another wall charger/USB/car charger and had the same problem with the wall charger I got. USB and car charger work fine.

I had the same problem with the monoprice.com wall chargers (with USB cable). The travel wall chargers from handhelditems.com DO work. They don't use the USB cable, so maybe that's the common problem. I got 2 for $5 each, but last time I looked they were $10 each. There is a 30% off coupon code 30htcoff that you can apply at checkout.

Edit: when I say they don't use the usb cable, what I mean is, they don't have a plug in the back where you plug in a separate USB-to-micro USB cable. They are pre-wired with a cable that ends in a micro-usb connector.

Would you be able to provide the model numbers or names of the chargers you bought from them? I'm interested. Thank you. :)

This is the one I bought, and it's still $4.99. It works fine with no touch screen problems. Don't forget the 30% off code 30htcoff - if it's still available. HTC Droid Incredible Travel Charger

They have cheap car chargers too, but I already had a couple so didnt' try them.

So I ordered 2 of the wall chargers from Monoprice and I had the same issue a lot had where the slide to unlock screen is unresponsive. I filed a RMA on Monoprice and requested they send me 2 replacements since they were to cheap for a refund and some of them worked for others. At the time I filed this the wall chargers (product # 6767) were on back order. They became available on Friday and I just received my new chargers yesterday. They are a completely different product from the first ones I received and they NOW WORK. So it looks like the latest shipment of wall chargers at Monoprice are good to go.

For only $1.75 each when QTY 50+ purchased - High-Speed WALL Power to USB Female Converter (1000mA) - Black | Power to USB Converters

Coming back to the problem of touchscreen become pretty unresponsive during charging, i am using the OEM charger from Samsung (Galaxy SL GTi9003) and am still facing this issue.

i read the above posts and all seem to be about chargers bought on ebay etc.

Things like screen pattern unlock, or general pressing of any touchscreen button while charging are the problms that i face. Either i have to press slightly harder or re-press it. no problems once i have unplugged the charger. Is it normal?
