Help Mail In Rebate Problems

My mail in rebate experience:

I sent everything in, receipt, UPC label from box, etc. Got a nice little postcard from Verizon saying that my rebate could not be processed because I was "missing" the label from the box that had those numbers on it. So I called the 800 number for the rebate center. Yesterday the man I spoke to was very nasty and told me nothing could be done because I did not make a copy of the label (even though I have the box in my hand with the hole where it was cut out AND a copy of the receipt). So I called again today expecting to have to speak with a supervisor. I explained that I know for sure that I sent it in, and whoever opened the envelope must have lost it. The lady was very nice, spoke to her supervisor for me, and came back and told me they will let the rebate go through as a "one-time courtesy"

This is why I hate mail in rebates. Anyone else have stories about their Incredible rebate?

I had no problem with the rebate, i received it in about 3 weeks, i never understood the whole rebate thing. Putting the pressure and hassle of filling out paper work and cutting the bar code, then mailing it in and wait for your money.

Wouldn't be nice to have that all done at the verizon store where you purchase the phone, or just give the customer the rebate at purchase and stop all that filling out, cutting and waiting.

Hey... why make it easier on the customer, that wouldn't be right.

In the end you're right, I am getting my rebate so there is no problem. My point is that they are always such a hassle.

Probably why they do it. Lots of people will either give up in cases like yours, or forget to mail it in, or not bother. I bought mine at Best Buy so no rebates to deal with. However I just filled out a rebate form for an update I got one of the kids a couple of weeks ago. Always nervous about not getting it, but so far that hasn't happened to me.
