Microsd Cards

I am going to switch from iOS to Android. What I want to know if I add a Microsd Card, how does that work? Let say I get a phone with 64 GB of internal storage and I add a 128 GB Microsd, will I have the 64+128=192 GB or just 128 GB?

There are a couple of things that can happen. First, I prefer to have the phone powered off when inserting an SD card. When you power on, Android will prompt you to format the card. Depending on the Android version you can format it as Internal or External storage. Either way you will have the phones built in 64 Gb in addition to the SD cards 128 Gb.
If you choose Internal you will also be able to move some of your Applications to it. This is a good choice if you have a quality, fast SD card.

You will have 64+128 minus system files ect. But sd card memory is not going to become part of your phone memory. Many apps will only stay on your phone memory that includes media from those apps for example WhatsApp would save your media in internal memory not sd.
You can set up your camera app -or any other app that allows it- to save files to sd, but most apps won't do it automatically.
In short think of it like connecting a USB memory stick into a computer, it's not adding internal memory.
