Why do people think users with androids are poor?

My family is far from poor, but whenever ppl see me pull out my pantech burst, they look at me strangly or they laugh. I have way more than some of these ppl with iPhones and they have some nerve to laugh. How did this stereotype began? Aren't androids the same price as iPhones?

Some Androids are, and in fact some Androids can cost more than iPhones. However a Pantech Burst is NOT one of them, that was really a budget device and cost a lot less than an iPhone.

Pull out a Samsung Galaxy Note8, that's a lot more baller! :thumbsupdroid:

The thing is Apple doesn't make budget phones. They have no interest at all in serving that market. Androids are for everyone!

The iPhone SE is actually a budget phone, it's $350 for the 32GB version. OK, it's a 4" screen and more expensive than the cheapest Androids out there but, it is a budget Apple phone in the big scheme of things...

So there's some shallow, immature people laughing at you and your phone. Ignore them, their lives are based more on superficial status issues and less on actual substance. While Android is certainly far from perfect, the biggest strength to an iPhone is not necessarily that it's actually 'better' but rather the massive marketing power fueled by Apple.
And for your own peace of mind, keep in mind that cheap, dirty, sub-standard Android is in reality a growing market while Apple's shiny, glowing, wondrous iOS is gradually diminishing. World market share numbers indicate Android is around 86% (notable as an increasing trend from year to year) while iOS is around 13% (decreasing from year to year):

I totally agree!

You could say I make a lot of money - I work very hard for what I earn but I like to keep my comments to myself about saying someone is poor - it is foolish.

If you really want to be smart just stay away from ass holes like that - they will eat up all your time over frivolous and insignificant comments.

Lots of Money =/= class or decency

I love money too but I try to keep it and horde it so I can retire early and not to be some stupid bragger idiot that should just be ingored.

I am proud of my new success but I don't go and rub it in other people's faces and say:

"OH LOOK AT THE HOBO HAHAHA"

Those people are just losers so don't waste your time with such jerks.

Rather just hang around nicer people that have more respect :)

I used to be a bit of a rich prick but I don't want to be such a jerk any more I want to be nicer :)

i agree....

and i also think the OP's feeling of others laughing... might be more in his mind.
kind of like.. when you go to a dance club..
and feel like everyone is looking at you: Not dance.. or dance..
NO ONE cares! totally in your head!

i have NEVER seen someone laugh at my android phone.. and I have never laughed at someone's apple iphone.
that would be the definition of shallow!
