Any Incredible owners jealous of the Evo 4G?

LOOK, im with sprint but verizon is better. this evo will be better than the INC bottom line. but its like 1a and 1b...both phone are amazing. and 2.2 will blow the iphones out of the water if not already...lets just be happy android and htc have stepped up there game and will continue to make this whole thing grow and grow...seems like once a week google is buying up some company that they will use for their cells in the future...we're all family here...CDMA family

Whats the point of having a phone like the Evo 4g if you need a laptop bag to carry it around with you.

The bigger screen is nice, but it means the unit is bigger and I think the Inc is the perfect size. Sure, I'd like the 4g, but whatever. Considering that won't be much of an issue for a long time, I'm not at all stressed by it.

Theyre very similar in dimensions. The evo isnt that much bigger

No but seriously, Sprint is hands down the best bang for your buck of any carrier. Unlimited everything(500 anytime minutes, which I use about 200 of a month) for 55 bucks/month after an easily attainable discount(work, school, etc)?

I guess it all depends on where you live, but those who say Sprints signal/coverage sucks probably haven't even been on Sprint before.

Do you realize we're the only two US carriers that roam on each other's networks? Because if you guys were on AT&T or T-Mobile I could see you trying to make an argument, although don't even get me started on their networks.

I wonder if 2.2 will come to the incredible first or evo. I like the idea of the truly unlimited wimax 4g with hotspot tethering. Can really come in handy during biz trips with flaky wifi in hotels and conference centers. But only if it can be easily add remove from the plan online.

They may have more reasonable rates, but I have been down that road before. I switched from CommNet (now Verizon) to CellularOne (now AT&T in my area). CellOne was about $15 cheaper than my then current plan with about 500 more minutes (this was analog service), so I switched. They let me out of my contract after two months because I couldn't reliably make calls (in the same areas where I had no problems with CommNet. When I switched back CommNet had been purchased by Verizon and I haven't looked back.
And I do say Sprint's coverage sucks, because they have no coverage in my area. Where I used to live they did. Their service ran along the interstate to the state line (east and south) and about 60 miles north and west. They also covered my city but it was very spotty. My friends wife had it but he added a line under him for her when they got pregnant because he could never get ahold of her and was worried that would be a problem when the baby came.
As far as jealousy, none. Am I happy that Sprint customers are getting the EVO, yes. I think every cell customer should have great phones available to them. I've always kinda looked at Sprint as a sibling carrier (both CDMA) so I am happy for them. I don't like the way Apple handles their cellular products (iron fisted control of OS and apps) so I am happy to get fellow Android users no matter what carrier they are on. My Incredible has everything I need and more. The screen is gorgeous, it's fast, and versatile. The things on the EVO (front cam, HDMI, etc.) are great and if anything will drive the cell phone industry to make them more of the norm than the exception, so everyone wins. Will I use them when they come out on a Verizon phone, maybe, but it will be nice to have the option. But at this point the Incredible has more than I need.

It also doesn't latch on to Verizon until there is absolutely no Sprint signal. I expect to see quite a few Evos with 1 bar and plenty of dropped calls.

the network plus all the incs pros make it a much better phone

I love my Incredible. Battery issues aside, I'd never thought I could have a device this powerful in the palm of my hand. The phone is awesome, I couldn't have asked for much more.

I wouldn't dare switch to Sprint. By the time they get 4G to me Verizon will be rolling out their LTE, which will be starting in my area (among the first, at least). Depending on what phones are available a year from now, I can upgrade to a phone better than the EVO. Not to mention that while Wi-Max and LTE both claim to be 4G networks, they have a wide speed margin.

I am sure that we will get a 2.2 update to our phone and we will probably continue to get updates well into the future. 15-18 months down the road they will probably give up on this handset, though. By that time it will be rooted and will have opportunities available. The phone is plenty fast and plenty powerful enough, people are still enjoying their G1s. Android has a solid foothold and the Incredible will be a contender for a while to come.

I'm actually going to change to Sprint. Sprints coverage in my area is actually very good. But the biggest selling point for me are the price of the plans.

When I pre-ordered the Dinc there was no set date for the Evo 4g yet. My G1 was dying on me so I needed a phone. The Dinc sounded like a no-brainer.

Don't get me wrong I absolutely love my Incredible. But all else being equal in terms of hardware and coverage, if I can save ~$30/month on my plan, it wouldn't make sense for me to stay with Verizon.

This, Verizon is horrible in my area. I switched from a BB Storm 1 on AT&T and had better service with only 2g... The battery in my incredible cooked up to 120 degrees today while searching for signal in my living room to send a mms... I wish At&T would just quit swallowing steve's job and release a decent android phone...

I don't know what you've been reading, but the only signal issues I've heard about are that the meter is wrong. I've heard great things about the call quality though.

Since you're on this forum I'm sure you called around to best buy stores and all the nearby Verizon shops. Sucks about the waiting. I got my phone a week after it came out and I know of only 3 phones that were available in the area, and that's with 0 advertising.

Anyways the HD2's been out for a while and it seemed kind of silly to have such a big phone back when it came out. Now that I have an incredible I actually love going online with it. The touchscreen and automatic resizing makes web browsing easy and fun. Plus youtube videos play great and with beautiful resolution, so I can definitely see the advantage of having a bigger screen.

That said, as a phone I would just feel like it was such bs to be talking on/holding this thing that's as big as my hand. By serendipity I found out about the incredible the day it came out. I'd been frustrated with available verizon phones for so long and I couldn't find my iPod, so I thought 'crap, maybe I can just get a new phone and use it to play music'. As luck would have it the incredible had just been released like 5 hours earlier. What struck me was the complete straightforwardness of the phone: android OS, capacitive touchscreen with no unnecessary keyboard, memory expandable to 32gb which is big enough to hold enough music/movies if you want, and a normal size for a phone rather than enormous and almost square shaped like the hd2. For so long it seemed like every phone that came out was silly. They would have either too little memory, 16gb is too small for me to consider it a useful media-phone, unwanted buttons/keyboard, giant square shape, etc etc etc... I felt like the incredible was just a normal, straightforward phone without all the BS design problems that had been coming out.

I would have to carry it around for a few days to really decide, but it seems like the increased size of the EVO is just ridiculous as a phone or internet device. It seems like its still to small to compete with something like an ipad, but too big to be held in one hand while casually browsing or using apps like you can with an incredible.

Seeing the dimensions laid out like that, it doesn't really seem that much bigger. But when you hold the phone in your hand (I've only played w/ the HD2) it's quite enormous.

I go to Sam's Club almost every day and I walk by and just hold the HD2 in my hand to see if I can tolerate the size and I ALWAYS find myself chuckling at how huge it is. However I don't see the size being an issue when you have it in your pocket unless you wear those thigh huggers that seem to be the rage now.

No matter though, I'll adapt to the increased size and still getting the Evo.

It depends what 3g frequencies it uses. You just have to look up the evo 3g frequencies and Verizon 3g frequency and see if they match. You might not be able to find out until the phone comes out. I would be surprised if the evo works on Verizon 3g but it's definitely possible.

i'm never jealous of a phone who uses a less quality carrier. i had nextel/sprint some years ago and At&t before that, nothing beats Verizon.

If Verizon doesn't carry it, i'm not interested, i use all APPLE computers (3) at home, but when i heard the iPhone needed At&t service... i said forget it.

A great phone that uses a bad carrier... is a bad phone. Now... if you carrier has great service where your at then of course you swear by them, i'm in the NYC area and i never experience a drop call or dead zones. That's just me.

Amazing that all you people are trashing sprint for their coverage especially when sprint offers FREE roaming and roams through verizon so it means for calls the coverage between verizon and sprint is identical so quit hating. Verizon is great but in my opion the EVO is just an amazing phone and while I know the bigger size is not for everyone I find that on my increadible the screen is just to small and can't wait to get the evo with all the extra features, and if you are going to bash please don't trash the phone cause almost every spec of the phone beats the increadible.

I handled the HD2 at a Tmobile store and it is huge. Just no getting away from that. for some people it will be non issue, but I carry my phone on a holster and it would look even more rediculous than the incredible looks. From a spec perspective the Inc is on par with the evo. As a matter of fact, both Phones are going to be the gold standard for spec. Alot of new devices will match them, but I dont see anything for a while that will significantly better to tempt me to upgrade. The front facing camera for video chat is a cool feature that I could see myself getting into, but other than that, the Inc is its equal in every way.

And Im not bashing Sprint, but for all these "we roam on Verizon" statements, it simply doesnt work as well in practice as it does in theory. When I was on Sprint, and I would go roaming, I missed tons of calls and data was spotty at best.
