Help Gmail questions

It should, but I found the Gmail app doesn't exactly work flawlessly. I've had deleted messages showing up in my Inbox still on the Incredible, while if I log into Gmail on a PC everything is normal.

I've been using the Sense Mail app since noticing that issue.

with the sense mail app, are you using your gmail account via the POP/IMAP setup or the exchange autosync setup.

I believe I did it through the POP / IMAP option. It seems to work well. Apparently many people don't like it because it doesn't have an actual "push" feature, but it sure keeps my emails updated better than the Gmail app was.

As I said, tons of issues with old emails that I had already deleted still showing up in the Gmail Inbox on my phone. No idea how or why. The Sense Mail app doesn't do it.

I honestly don't even know what POP / IMAP is, or Exchange autosync, so I tried both. I think it didn't work with Autosync or it asked for stuff I didn't know, so I tried the POP / IMAP option and it worked fine. Is it like a technology difference?

the strange thing about the POP/IMAP option with my gmail account is that it created these new labels, i.e. IMAP (Sent), IMAP (Trash). When I delete something on my phone it goes into the imap (trash) label and not off the server. I then have to open up gmail and clear that specific folder. Was just wondering why it created these new labels instead of dumping the emails in the original sent, trash, etc labels.

Yea it did that for me to. I just made them hidden and plan on ignoring them. As long as my emails all show up on my phone just as they do on my computer, I'm fairly satisfied.

I can't get over that the Gmail app itself on an Android (aka - Google's OS) phone, doesn't work as well as a 3rd party app. Maybe I'm being too harsh, and the reason the Sense Mail works better is because the phone is an HTC Sense phone and the app is made for HTC Sense. Still Gmail can't be that hard to get right.... I mean deleted messages showing up in the inbox, and even new emails not always showing? That's pretty bad...

Edit - Maybe if you delete the Imap folders in Gmail on your PC it will just start sending them to the standard folders?

I haven't had any issues with the Gmail app. Any thing I delete on my phone, it deletes on the server and vice versa. Even the labels I add on my phone, they appear instantly when i check on my computer. i suggest redoing your account sync and see if you get better results. The gmail app is missing some features (ie copy and paste), but as far as syncing goes, I think it performs pretty well.

I have my personal gmail acct and business gmail acct both set up under the gmail icon. I always get my notifications for my personal gmail acct but I never get it for the 2nd gmail acct which is my business one. I have to go into the app and then hit the accounts button and then it will list both of the emails and then tell me if there is an email in my work email. I don't get the notification sound for it. I have 2 email accts set up for my HTC mail and I get all the notifications for both those email accts. They even have different tones. What's up w/ GMAIL? I checked to see if there were any other settings but I couldn't find anything. HELP!
