MXP: Kind of like a good wife......

It's still a great phone, and recently I looked on phonearena.com and did side by side comparisons, and the user ratings, with my MXP, are comparable, (half of the new phones coming out this year have less MP in their cameras than my MXP) and sometimes better than phones like the Galaxy S8, and S8 note, and other high end phones. In terms of repairs I only had to replace the charger port, (More difficult finding someone who knew how to do that, than one might think), and other than that my battery is starting to fail earlier, (see my earlier post), but other than that, this phone still kicks ass.

Things I'd like to see in another MXP type phone of course would be:
- More RAM
- Longer Battery life,
- Bigger screen,

But other than that, I am still faithful to the old girl.

In my search for a phone that has a similar tactile, and interfacial experience, I see dozens of offerings, but none of them have the look, or price, I am looking for, and I think the feel will be totally different.

I guess I just have to go and hands-on demo 30 phones. Lol.
I will feel like a cheating husband.

While I have the new X4, I still prefer the XPE. With one of mine, I can still go all day on a single charge. The other, I have to give it a boost at lunch time. Have a replacement battery ordered to see if I can get more life out of it.
Only other phone I've been really interested in is the OnePlus, but no Verizon support.

OnePlus, but no Verizon support.
Don't you just hate that?

My sister has an MXP also, hers is still chugging right along but it could use a new charging port too. I'm pretty sure her Otterbox case put too much pressure on the charger and messed it all up. She's on the hunt for a new phone too though, since I got one. She's like that. I'll probably give her mine when I'm sure I'm sticking with the Essential (which seems to be the case so far).

Wow. I was just looking into the same. Can you come back here and share your experience with the replacement battery? I am also wondering, with so many of these sold, why an enhanced battery is not available or was not developed. I really have no idea why a 3000mAh battery would suck so much on an MXP, but not seem to be a problem on so many other phones. I also have no idea of 3300mAh would make a big difference, because I just don't know batteries. Let us know the results!
Thanks~

Wow! I didn't know I had company in the holdout crew! MXP for life! lol.

TIP: instead of risking the charger port again, (see bottom of this post if you need one. they're cheap) I purchased WSken magnetic connectors. they have strong rare earth magnets, click right into the phone, and support turbo charging, (something I am becoming more and more suspicious of) and I even use on upside down at my desk to suspend the phone while I talk on it, as opposed to using speaker and setting it on my desk.

WSken magnetic charger cable:

Replacement charger port:

If any of you come into contact with a phone that is very similar to our dear MXP, please let me know! You know what I am talking about! That feel. The perfect size! that nice screen ratio! that great price! I'll be here hoping, but until then, since the latest flagship androids all only have slightly better user ratings, I'll stick with my good old nelly.

Thanks!

TIP

what is it like?
I like it. It has the same 5.7 screen but the whole phone is smaller, it really is almost full screen. It's a little heavy but in a good way, but no curvey back. Some stuff doesn't use the whole screen, that's a bummer. I get all day battery, about the same as MXP or better.
It's a nice phone.

Just tried installing the new battery that was waiting when I got home. Popped the old one out, new in, screwed down the back, and just when I tried to press the connector on to the motherboard, the connector fell off the ribbon cable. CRAP! Gotta send this one back for a replacement.
Didn't put the original back in, had old spares that I removed from broken XPE's that I've picked up over the past year. Figured I would try one of those till new arrives.
Basically back to square one.
