any issues with cases or holsters using magnetic flaps instead of velcro? I've had previous phones and holsters with these flaps and had no troubles but with my current iphone i keep reading about random phone errors due to the magnets. i ended up with a sedio case for my iphone but want a leather holster for the EVO

My apologies for hijacking this thread, but I'm wondering if anyone is aware of a magnetic flap holster that is designed for a phone that's larger than the incredible? Preferably as tall or slightly taller, and significantly thicker (depth-wise, not width).
I'm trying to find one that will be roomy enough to hold my phone once I get the 3500 mAh battery from Seidio, and the holster I have now is not going to cut it. Maybe something that's designed for a phone with a case on it?

As far as your question goes, I believe the magnet in the flap is not strong enough to affect the phone.

If the phone is activated by a magnet you might have problems. The Motorola Droid switches to "car" mode when it is near a magnet. In "car" mode the display is always on. I had a Motorola Droid and I returned it because the battery would be dead after four hours in my holster. Later I found out about the magnet.

I know Seidio makes a side case for the Motorola Droid w/extended battery that looked pretty big when I put my Incredible in it. It's a horizontal case, not a top loading case though...

How snug does the incredible fit lengthwise? I just want to make sure the power button doesn't get depressed because it's too snug.

I use Leather Holster with Magnetic Flap. No problems here. Been using this kind of holster for years on previous phones too. I got mine from walking into the Verizon store. It's slightly bigger than the phone but not way bigger, which is perfect if I ever decide to get a silicone cover or extended battery. I'm tired of hearing about how "dorky/nerdy" it is to use these type of holsters. Get over it, the phone is kept safe and convenient.

And we are supposed to care what you think because why now?

Mm.. no reason. (looks down and shoves hands deeply into cargo pants--okay, not really)

I was just surprised to see that this topic was being batted around. I didn't realize people still used such implements. I generally see them only in dust packages at Verizon. I thought the issue had been thoroughly cured by ridicule. I get it; they're convenient. As would be a belt-mounted urinal but I'm going to say no. ;)

Couldn't use a case with magnets with the Droid either becasue of the dock modes. I did however use my BlackBerry Storm holster with proximity magnet and magnetic flap with my Incredible for the first week and didnt have any problems whatsoever.

I used my Storm holster for the first few days, too but now the flap is too short since I started using the silicon case.

I mostly carry in my left front pant pocket, but this just does not work with some (dress) pants.

I would appreciate any pointers or links to a *vertical* holster that will work with the silicon case.

If you haven't tried the belt mounted urinal then you don't know what your missing. It brings a whole new meaning to the word "convenience"

Back to the phone holster, its not purely a matter of convenience. It has to do with protecting and caring for a $600 device. With my holster, my phone has a safe secure place where it is protected and wont get lost or shoved in my pocket with car keys and various other debris.

Everyone that I know who doesn't use a holster are prone to either setting the things down and walking off or flat out cannot hear/feel them when you do try to call. Plus I believe that carrying the device in a holster presents a certain amount of professionalism rather than being carelessly thrown about or shoved in a jean pocket like some careless adolescent.

That of course is purely my opinion on the matter. Anyone is welcome to disagree on all counts except for the belt mounted urinal, that is in fact the greatest invention of our time....

I believe THIS holster is being used with an existing case. I know mine was loose enough that I had to sew it tighter to keep the Incredible snug. It is the same case I used with my Moto Droid and my Touch Pro 2 fatty so it is pretty versatile.
