Best gaming tablet?

What's the best gaming tablet? Ideally something 8 inch but 10 inch is ok.

It used to be nvidia shield but it's discontinued. Now the decent choices cost > $500 (samsung or google's).

Some chromebooks also have touch screen and can run android games. Are they any good as gaming device?

I have a nexus 7 but it is too slow. I play a game call bloon monkey city and in the CT sub-game, when too many objects are moving (above round 40), the game starts to lag. This is a 2-D game.

This game on an ipad mini 4 runs smoothly without lag, and this is only a $275 device. But I prefer the UI on android platform. So is there an android tablet for this price that has equivalent performance or better?

Still Nvidia Shield tablet, its still on sale. Or are you referring to software updates? It shouldn't really matter much if your only purpose it to really just game. Decent screen, front-firing speaker and decent battery accompanies the monster performance in-terms of gaming and besides, Android tablets rarely gets software updates anyway. Your other alternative is Samsung Tab S3 as its also a powerhouse and have the best screen on any android tablet if you're looking to maximize the graphic experience(and I'm an avid believer that 1080 is more than enough for smartphones and 2k disply is overkill but after experiencing 2k on a tablet and playing games there like Iesabel and Shadowrun I can never go back lol).

Really, those two are the only ones I can think of that packs the power for a very smooth gaming experience, maybe the Tab S2 but its old and not as future proof in terms of performance.. Your really best bet is to jump to ipad and you'll have the benefit of better game library there, I'm still salty that Bastion only got a port on iOS.

I have been having a similar dilemma, my shield battery really drains quick now that its been over 2 years. Very few choices for android tablets this year. I almost bought a chromebook but it's hard to find a 10-11 inch with enough internal storage (android apps esp games can't access SD card on chrome) that is less than $500.
I just placed an order for the lenovo tab 4 plus 10inch tablet, with 4 gigs of ram. I read a lot of reviews and seems to have some issues with quality control, and if you get the cheap 2 gigs of Ram model seems you'll have trouble with things slowing down.
Did you end up getting an ipad?

Hey, have a look at Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Tablet:

* 64 GB Internal Storage
* 4 GB Ram
* 10.8 Inch Display

Price: 528$

Check it out. I hope you will like it.

its a good tablet, but i don't think it would that great for games. i mean it is a windows device so you can't play android games. you can play basic windows or pc games, but the processor and graphics would not be that great for most pc games......just saying.
