No update yet for leak 1 should i download v3???

I was on v2 and decided to bump up to v3 when it looked like we weren't getting the OTA. I figured if leakers did get an update, v3 would be included, if not, most of the tech people on here were already on v3 so it was good company to be in. Besides that, the only issue I ever had was the sites that didn't connect to the internet and v3 fixed that.

Leakers will NOT get the current OTA update. It does a check to see what version your phone's s/w is and is only hitting 1.5 phones. Until HTC or VZW modifies the 'update-script', we'll remain on the leaked version(s).

I have two Eris's One I use to keep paper from blowing away and the other is the wifes. Both have the first leak. She got the update and everything works just fine. Havent messed with the other cause my guess is since its not active on any plan my only option would be a manual install.

Also from @VZWSupport on Twitter "The 2.1 updates have been sent to some leaked versions and were downloaded successfully"

Do we have any evidence to support this? I am just curious since I read something different here: http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/80661-differences-between-2-1v2-leak-2-1v3-leak.html . Post #3 says the exact opposite of what you have suggested, or at least from what I can tell. You guys are all much smarter than me, so I may be missing something.

its false depending on what leak you have installed. I infact did get the update on one of my Eris's. BUT, that is because I was on leak version 1. not sure about leak 2, but leak 3 will not get the OTA since it is essentially the same according to the OTA software check.

there is no harm in loading leak 3. If you are really worried about it you can install the RUU on PCDphones when it becomes available.

That will not work. None of the leakers can successfully install the official software that is already available due to the different bootloader. If I was on leak v1, I would wait and hope to get the OTA, since there are a few accounts of people getting it on 1, but none on leak 3.

Mine on version 1 has HBOOT 1.49 and so does one of my employees on v3 (I checked). I will bet that the RUU will have HBOOT version 1.49 too. My bet is that V3 is the RUU minus maybe a few addtional files. Either way we only have a couple more days until the rollout is "complete" I'd question what to do after. Until then I'd wait like BlueDC2 said

To ME the main difference between installing a leak and waiting for the OTA is the fact that the leak will completely wipe your phone and you must reinstall all of your apps. The OTA messes with your home screens and changes SOME of your settings, but your phone remains essentially 'intact' and it's much easier to get it back to your looking like you think it should.
