Help how to lengthen time Lock screen stays on ?

How to lengthen time Lock screen stays on, as it can be a race of few seconds before it frustratingly times out and shuts back off to the AOD?
I'd like to increase it to at least 30 seconds.
The screen timeout in the display settings is for the Home screen not the Lock screen (I already set the home screen timeout to 2 minutes from I think the originally set 30 seconds).

from what i understand, the lock screen is not meant to stay on longer than the few seconds it does.

I'm guessing here but maybe an app like Kinscreen, or just turn all security off?

I was having the same issue, The lock screen goes blank too fast while I am looking at my notifications. I dont want to have to unlock my phone to read everything, so here is what I did:

There is the "Smart Stay" feature under Settings > Advanced features
it keeps your screen on as long as you are looking at it. This applies to everything unfortunately but most importantly works on the lock screen.

I've searched the Internet for a solution to this problem (amazing how many people state the Home Screen Lock as the fix) and this was the Only real solution that works on my galaxy s8+. THANKS yarren!
