Ok first rant of the year, and it's a justifiable one.
Mrs reports that the headlight bulb on her car has gone. Fine I think, no problem I'll just replace it.
Except it's not that simple, because the entire front bumper (fender) assembly has to come off!!
Honestly, who designs a car like this?! ******* Renault, that's who.
Unfortunately a lot of things are like this now.

I had a Renault in the '80s, but Renault in the U.S. was made by AMC if I remember my autochronology correctly.

I'd check on that headlamp assembly. If it's just the bulb that's out there may be some way to access it from behind. If you have to replace the lens and/or housing, then yeah, like @Unforgiven said, they're all like that these days.

Apparently you can just about get in behind the passenger side if you have small hands.
But it had to be the driver's side that's gone.
I don't think most cars are like this, certainly not in the UK. The Mrs took it in to Halfords (auto parts shop), and they said this car was the one of the very few they couldn't work on, because of the bumper removal.

Ugh! That is certainly a stupid design. I recall one of the original Honda Civic's -- or was it a Datsun? (now Nissan) -- that to change the #4 spark plug you had to drop the engine! There was no other way to get at it short of cutting a hole in the firewall.

Sounds like the Chevy Vega where you had to take out the engine bolts and shift the engine to get at the rear plugs.

My youngest daughter's first car had the engine turned sideways. (front wheel drive) I had to replace the harmonic balancer pulley. The given method was to remove the driver side quarter panel and front bumper. My method was a sawsall to the plastic wheel well. :) It looked a bit funky but I'm betting if the next owner had to replace that pulley he was a happy camper. :)

Me? I drive a 20 year old Diesel at work. It is 50-50 starting it at 0F. The heat doesnt work... It's warm enough after sitting an hour, start driving and my coworker opens the window to smoke. twice in a row. I lost it. WTF??? It takes an hour to warm this thing up and you have the goddam window open, at 0F, ON THE HIGHWAY????
Can you wait 10 minutes to give yourself cancer?
Oh, he smokes a lot, but complained about...ready? his nervousness over his lung screening showing 'spots'. and he still smokes.....
is this natural selection?

Is he a passenger in your car? Should respect your rules if you want a no smoking policy. At the least it's very inconsiderate. Like you say, he could wait 10 minutes.

passenger... He is very very odd. I had 3different people tell me in two days about him being 'a real odd bird'. 'Whats his problem, why is he so weird'.
And tomorrow? He completes his probation and will essentially be un-firable.
OK, I don't know where you are, but I would imagine you have a strong case to run that up the chain. It's a company vehicle - he shouldn't be smoking in it, especially if there's a non-smoker present. I'm a smoker but I would never submit non-smokers to my habit, even in my own vehicle.

Pre-snowstorm road preparation in Boston really grinds my gears.
They do it two days in advance and it creates billows of dust until the storm maybe hits. Your entire mouth gets a salty, gritty tinge. Even your phlegm is salty.
For a confirmed pedestrian it's hell. Waiting for a bus is an ordeal that makes you begin to think wearing a surgical mask in public is not a crazy idea after all.

It's a conspiracy with the people that sell windshield washer fluid.

@justanotherguy We use liquid brine or liquid magnesium chloride depending on the temperature for pre-treating roads before a storm. My rant was about the liquid magnesium chloride.

Follow that with a rock salt and calcium chloride mix during the really cold storms, just rock salt when it's not so cold and sand just about everywhere and anywhere where the plows can't clear enough while the snow is falling and you get a tsunami of stuff in the air.
