I have been having an issue. I have deleted any new apps and have kept everything clean. From time to time, if I am on Facebook, google, an email or anything else my screen will lock up.it last just a few seconds. When it does, nothing I do will correct it.I can not swipe up or down, left or right. I cannot bring up the icons on the bottom or press the home key. I have performed several soft resets. Anyone else have this happen?

if you have "performed several resets" and it acts that way WITH NO APPS installed by you (this include restoring from backups), the your phone is faulty and should be serviced.

you mentioned facebook. i read a lot of random issues that come from facebook app. perhaps uninstall that and re-test...

i know I know.. its facebook.. i think you can survive for a day without the app.. :)

remove any screen protectors, cases, uninstall any apps that remap the bixby button (if you have such a thing installed).

There are thousands of reports from users that the Note 8 is freezing up. It does not seem to be traceable to a single carrier or app. Samsung is not going to willingly come out and say 'yeah, we screwed up again and released a phone with a serious problem'... After the Note 7, they would be run out of the cell phone business.

I'm really hoping that this is a firmware issue that can be resolved via OTA update. If they're fast about finding the problem and developing a solution, they could send it out with the Android 8.0 update.

I have noticed this a few times, but not many. I have tried to pay attention to what was going on when this happens and, in my case, it seems to occur when handing off from WiFi to cellular. Once the phone "decides" which service to use, it seems to rectify itself. It hasn't happened many times, but seems to be the culprit in my case.

My first Note 8 lost its audio after an OTA. I was able to get a replacement. The replacement freezes sporadically and I can' pinpoint the cause.

Mine has done this a few times. Every time I was on Chrome and couldn't move. It was hard stuck! Not just for a few seconds either. Just stuck. I had to hold down the volume and on/off to reboot to get out of it. I hope they find the problem soon and send an update to fix.
BTW, I am only going to my usual websites, not browsing around randomly when it happens. And I haven't installed any new apps in months. Just the latest Samsung update which is when this all began.

I noticed it happening after I used the Samsung-Browser a few times. I will monitor this and see. If it is the culprit, I will disable the two browsers and see what happns

I have had 3 freezes since owning the note 8. All 3 of them have been associated with charging and allowing the phone to be hooked up to the charger past 100%, you know, charging it overnight with a fast charger. I have had to do a hard reset on my phone all 3 times. Since the last update about a week ago, it has not happened. My fingers are crossed too

Nope: the past week I've probably experienced three or four freezes. The screen becomes completely unresponsive. I have to hard press the Home button to get back to the home screen and then it seems to be fine. Now Samsung is facing the 0% battery crisis with the Note 8 - this is NOT news that any of us want to deal with.
