duplicate albums in Photos

What time of phone are you using? Does it have a gallery and Google photos installed? Because if you have Google photos or some other cloud saving app gallery isn't necessary. Photos and videos can take up alot of I recently deleted close to 49gb of photos and videos from my Nexus 6 because all it was backed up

I encountered the same problem (every album was duplicate.
I disabled Photos app (phone was brand new) and before enabling it I encountered another problem (I don't remember it now but I did web search and cleared cache and data of each app including system apps because phone was new).

I realized later that Photos app is disabled, I enabled it again. Clones were gone.
Updated the app and it worked fine for a month.
2:00am here and I was searching for the solution of clone albums again.
Yes! But this time only one album was cloned by PHOTOS app (not all).
I see that it is GOOGLE photos, so you won't find solutions on google and instead you'll find unnecessary links like if you're the only person having this issue which is not true.
These clone albums have no thumbnail, pics and videos inside them seems blank and instead of opening om touch they seem to LOADING or BUFFERING or STREAMING idk why.

IDK what came in my mind that I went to
-Settings
-Apps and info (oreo)
-Apps
-Show System
-Media Storage (this is the system app)
-clear cache
-clear data.

DIDN'T WORK!

So I started to search for a solution again. I came to your thread and went back sad. I opened the photos app amd suddenly albums started to disappear (I was scared as I thought my photos are getting deleted). Album were shuffling like playing cards and I went to see the duplicate album, it had disappeared already. Shuffling stopped, no clones.

IT ACTUALLY WORKED BUT RESULTS CAME A BIT LATE SO I THOUGHT IT DIDN'T WORK INITIALLY.

So, that media storage app data clearance thing actually had worked but results came a bit late (5 minutes) and I DID NOT RESTART MY DEVICE.

Now go back and see the first sentence that I wrote in BOLD in this reply.
Yes!
Since I cleared data of all apps, it also included media storage app, I guess only this app is the culprit and only this is the ACTUAL SOLUTION.

And yes!
Triplets thing happened to me too.
And another YES!
Deleting duplicate album deleted original too.

But last encounter was strange as I was unable to DELETE any file from duplicate album, a message popped up "Photos can't delete the file, please launch gallery app."
With two options CANCEL and LAUNCH
Launch option opened my DU recorder so I uninstalled DU recorder, then again same message popped up.
This time no LAUNCH option, just CANCEL.

BECAUSE IRONICALLY I HAD NO GALLERY APP!
