Screen flips on its own?

Hi all. Just wondering if anyone else here is having this problem with their Inc.

I know that myself and several others at another forum have been having issues where our home screens are flipping on their own. I have the added issue where, in whatever app I happen to be in when the phone starts freaking out, my cursor will jump from one position to many others - all on its own.

Long story short, after 1 month of use, I'm sure that this has something to do with light and the optical joystick.

Would love to get an idea of how many Incs here have the same problem. :)

Thank you!

its the optical sensor. everytime it does it wiping the optical sensor takes care of it. it seems like dust on the sensor makes it think we're swyping it.

optical sensor? you mean one of the sensors to the left of the Verizon logo?

or, do you mean the optical joystick (at the bottom of the phone between the MENU button and BACK button)?

I need to be sure.

Thank you.

the trackball thingy. the optical trackpad or optical joystick, whatever they call it.

today while i was at work i took it out of my pocket, swiped down on the lock screen and watched my phone jump all the way to the far left screen. swiping the screen with my finger would move it back, but immediately after swiping the screen it would jump back all the way to the left again. the only way to make it stop jumping was to wipe the optical joystick thingy. after i swiped it, all was good again. dust must be tricking it.

interesting. but, many of us have been testing this out for about a month now. we're pretty sure it has something to do with light or other interference (ie: from electrical devices, perhaps). if you use a small maglite flashlight, you can move the screens. the flashing from a TV, in an otherwise darkened room, will trigger the problem a lot too.

we hope that a software patch will correct the issue -- overly sensitive optical joystick.

just shined a small led maglite all over the track pad and this did nothing. you may be right, but i don't experience that.

Well, even though I've had only 1 day with my new replacement Inc, I feel comfortable posting this comment. I figured sooner is better since some of you, like me, have 30-day return windows ending.

I loaded every single app that I had on my previous Inc. Then, I put my new Inc in every possible scenario that made my original Inc freak out -- flipping home screens and jumping cursors. So far, I have not seen the problem occur. The only time I made the screen flip was when I swiped the optical joystick with a maglite flashlight, but I don't consider that a flaw. The flashlight counts as input.

There definitely is a batch of Incs out there that have this ridiculous defect. As far as I'm concerned, every one of us deserves to have an Inc that is free of randomly flipping home screens and erratic cursor jumps.

Obviously, there is no guarantee that your replacement will be flawless. If this problem bothers you enough, as it did me, it's worth it to demand a new "NEW" NEW!!! replacement Inc.

I'll post again if I suddenly find that the flipping occurs again. I don't think it will, though.
