Hm.

Someone swiped Dngrswife's purse out of our car in a shopping center parking lot. Walked off with a few cards and her phone.

We discovered the loss withing an hour and began calling to cancel the cards and stuff... one ATM card they had tried guessing the PIN a few times. I called my provider and canceled her phone. Also sent a lock and erase command, but I don't know if it actually worked.

Turns out, they tried to order themselves a nice Galaxy Note 8 via Amazon. Order was immediately canceled, though. Probably because, I just found out, they changed the shipping/card mailing address (which obviously did not match the cards in question).

Won't the police be interested in that when I get back into town?

Probably not. Two years ago i get an alert on my watch that my card had just been used at Lowe's for an $1,800.00 charge (turned out they bought a refrigerator.) I immediately called the bank and cancelled the charge and the card. I asked if I should report it to the police because anything over $1,000.00 is considered grand theft and is a felony. The bank said that i could, but never really said that it was a good idea. I went to my local police station to report it. The officer was less than enthusiastic when I gave him the information and nothing ever came of it.

So, Dngrwife's replacement phone is already here, the necessary accessories arrive today, and I think I have all the credit cards stopped and replaced.

The thief also tried to buy a couple iPhones through Groupon, with no success, and found the monitoring cameras in grandma's house, so we had to shut them down until I can get over here to change all the passwords, etc.

The reset and wipe didn't work?

Apparently not. Probably because that feature requires some form of security lock, and Dngrswife did not have that turned on last time.

She definitely does with her new phone. She is upset that there is no cloud backup of pictures she had on the old phone, though I am hoping that the police will be able to recover it, since we have an address and phone number (and Google seems to still be picking up location data).

Dear men who wear cologne, OMG!, cut down. Just opened a package from a guy on Swappa and now feel the need to shower, take allergy meds and fumigate the house. This phone needs a bath and will live outside until the smell goes away. Truly awful cologne and truly awful amount. I'd hate to be anywhere near this guy irl. Seriously, my eyes are burning!
