OK, so G1 now has (rough port of) Andorid 2.0:

And Galaxy is what, two months away from getting 1.6?

I wonder if I'm missing something here... HTC released the source to their Dream, Magic and Hero... Samsung released their source for the Galaxy...

If someone could compile 2.0 for the Dream, shouldn't it be possible to do the same with the Galaxy? Granted that the HTC source is better managed... but we still have the same starting point, no?

If someone could shed more light on this, it would be great.

Edit: Now I think I have a rough idea how that was done. They combined bits and pieces from the Motorola Sholes 2.0 dump and it's still rough around the edges.

The only thing I really really really want from 1.6/2.0 is the builtin WPA2 Enterprise networking support.

Oh and the multitouch from 2.0 so I can finally speed type on the touchscreen keyboard

Wifi helper has failed me in that regard, and yes, I did input all the settings correctly, I triple checked.

5. press menu to get options
6. press Search to get keyboard

Am I the only one who thinks this is too much?

On Android 2.0 the search widget on the Home menu will be able to search
contacts.

Why don't you just press and hold the unlock key to unlock? It's faster and... half the number of clicks
