HI All

Newby here!!

I'm trying to add a calendar to my phone but every time I do I get a message that the email address is already in use. I know it is as its one of my email accounts on the phone already. I just want to add a calendar to link to the email address.

Any shining lights very welcome!!

Rgds

What calendar are you using and how are you trying to add it?

If it's the Google calendar (or one that syncs w/Google) you should just be able to go into settings and select what ones you want to display. If you are logged into that Gmail account it should show.
Unfortunately its a Microsoft account. I already have the email set up on the phone but want to add the calendar as well.

The Outlook app will let you access the MS account's calendar, but only within the Outlook app itself.

Nine is an email and calendar app which does the same thing but with more customisation. But it also creates a Microsoft calendar account which can be accessed by other calendar apps. The one thing it doesn't do is Google calendars, sadly (it can be used for GMail mail), but if you want to manage all of your calendars in one app you can set up your MS account with Nine then use a different app for the calendars. If you only have Microsoft calendars then it's a pretty decent calendar app itself. I'm using it at the moment to sync outlook and exchange calendars with my phone, but generally use other apps for managing them and my Google calendars together. It's not free, but there's a 2 week trial period as I recall.

Microsoft's old outlook.com app used to let you do this too, but a couple of years ago they "upgraded" it to the Outlook app which keeps the calendars internal to itself

Are we talking about the Outlook app? I had no problem adding my Google calendar to it. I had my Hotmail and two Gmail accounts synced to Outlook.

I think what's happening is that you are accessing Settings while in email. You need to tap on the calendar icon in the right corner, and access the calendar settings. From there, you can set up and enable as many calendars as you want. I turned off the calendars for all but my primary Gmail account, since that's the one with which I use the calendar.

Yeah, any and all calendars synced with my outlook.com account. With the old outlook.com app you got a calendar account that could be ready by any calendar app. With the Outlook app, nope. I tried many times with more than one phone, but while I could sync and use the calendars from my Outlook.com account with the Outlook app itself no other app could access them (and I worked through all of its settings).

Then when I tried Nine as an email app (because I'd never been comfortable with AquaMail after Mobi bought it, so when I read that it could now handle IMAP accounts as well as Exchange I thought I'd give it a go) I discovered that I could now access my Outlook account's calendars through other calendar apps as well, the way I'd used to be able to with the old outlook.com app. So at that point I just considered this to be "problem solved" and used that.
