Root [ROM][Unofficial] Vanir & Commotio v7.1 for Moto E4 Plus "owens"

Well the pattern is: (as far as the roms you've made goes) if something is broken on one rom, it's broken on all the roms. A perfect example is the fingerprint sensor. It's broken on all but maybe 3 of the many, many roms that you have. Don't say the camera works on all roms because thats entirely untrue. I'm using Mokee now and the camera app loads a black screen.
I assumed, following your fingerprint sensor pattern, nearly of all the cameras on nearly all of the roms would be broken.

You're obviously not aiming for quality, you're aiming for quantity. This is blatantly obvious by the number of broken roms you've released thus far. You've been releasing 2 or 3 a week. These aren't small problems either. Mokee boots up in Chinese /Japanese, fingerprint sensor not working, camera not working, etc... And how do you solve the problem? Release another one with the EXACT same problems!!

Then when I try to offer some suggestions and make a request or two you have the nerve to complain?! And I was going to donate to you? What was I thinking!

You should really bring ROM complaints to it's proper corresponding thread, but here:
Here's Me Using MoKee camera.. As for the pattern ya describe, that has a lot to do with the bases being used to make ROMs and the level of detail the Rom Developers manage to tweak and fix.. cus there's quit a few that aren't even updated/bug fixed or updated to work with every device in existence. Los base a usual/certain set of bugs that require certain tree mods, While Aosp base has another set of issues to work around. Then there's SlimROMS too.. each mix & picking has its virtues and building issues. For example, noticed that Every TipsyOS has same bug across devices. AOKP has same bug across all devices, ect.. While I still feel noob and learning, I'm certainly trying.. some ROMs give me fixes to others so it's worth trying to build them. If you're still having problems, then ya ma just have a bad DL. ReDL and check/compare md5sums with what afh labels shown when downloading

Well I'm using AIM now and the camera doesn't work. It's just a black screen..

I have to download "moto cam" for it to work. It's supposedly a port from another Motorola device that works for all Motorola devices.

And your thread about AIM says that the fingerprint sensor doesn't work, but it's working fine for me.

I guess every rom will be a surprise. Never know what you'll get, as the descriptions aren't accurate.

1. Once again, plz direct ROM issues to the dedicated threads
2. I don't remember that one having camera problems..
3. Looks good to me
Once again, may be a corrupted DL

I have directed quite a few issues in the dedicated threads and if you'll remember, you told me that you weren't going to look too much into fixing the issues.

He is doing this for free, in his spare time, correct. However, why would he ask for donations if he isn't going to fix the problems?

Why would anyone donate to him knowing this?

He has done a great job and I still may donate. I'm reluctant though because I don't really want to donate to a rude person who has created roms that only partially work.

If you're unhappy with the ROM, then you're perfectly entitled to not give a donation. Nobody is asking for money in order to obtain the ROM.
There seems to be some disagreement over whether the problems exist or not. If you have a problem, clearly state how to reproduce it. If the developer can't reproduce it, then it could be a problem caused by your specific device/environment. The developer isn't compelled to investigate, or fix your problem. Again, no money is being asked for, nobody is forcing you to pay. If you're unhappy, simply don't give any money. Remember, you're getting all this for free. Be happy that someone is trying to do help you out for nothing.
If it's a general problem with the ROM, other people will have reported it, and the developer will probably look into fixing it.
If you have problems with a ROM, and the developer can't reproduce it, or won't investigate it, try another ROM instead.

What we don't like is people perpetuating petty arguments, or winding others up. Let's keep it objective and on a professional level folks.

Why is the 'Optional' donate link still a subject of contention? As @LV426 has already stated and each of my OP's state as well; '....donating is not required, ...'
And I'm not gonna remove the link just because someone is getting offended or something.

1. The only ROM I remember having said I wouldn't do much with, is MoKee ROM. I made that ROM for Shitz n' Gigglez, then wiped the repo to make room on the HDD for other repos to build with. I even stated that when you brought it up.
2. Everything in that ROM is 100%, so your issues aren't making Much sense at the moment.
3. I felt that the fact that the ROM has an older built-in magisk isn't much of a biggie cuz you automatically get prompted to flash an older version or just flash a newer one over the previous while still in recovery. If I still had the repo: yes I'd probably redo it with a newer version of Magisk to save wasted time.
4. Some stuff I can fix. Other stuff, I dunno how yet but I'm still learning. You can bring the exact same trees to any ROM and they're all likely to have different building challenges, difficulties, and bugs the previous ones didn't.
5. I'm currently working on (re)building ROMs with WireGuard VPN compatibility and F-Droid, in between these ghastly surgeries.. I figured everyone could use it, with all the recent craziness & hacking going on.. I do go back and upgrade previous builds, whether or not I succeed is a different story

Here's a little trick to save space and data when your syncing repos. Say you have lineage 14.1 already and want to sync something like AOKP that has alot of the same stuff,
repo init --reference=~/android/LineageOS/android.git -b cm-14.1
-u https://github.com/AOKP/platform_manifest.git -b nougat
This will use anything that lineage has in common so your not downloading it all again. You can sync a repo a lot faster also. Literally in minutes, rather than hours.

.... Or at least some of the more well known roms. You have some pretty good roms like Mokee, vanir and commotio. However, most of the fingerprint scanners don't work on most of the roms. It's kind of a bummer to have to enter my password everytime I want to get into my phone.

Can you next work on a more well known rom?
These are well known Roms try Tesla or remix perhaps the porn rom dont get ur self too excited tho lmao

There's an E5 play in Walmart. Should be an E5 Plus coming also. From what I've seen for specs, los 15.1 should be fairly simple to do for them because they have very similar specs to the G5 models. I might aquire one of those soon. Probably the plus.

Yeah, I'll look into the Plus version myself .. After a bit, cuz this E4 Plus is Rockin' pretty nicely. Also noticed that none of the newer devices hold as much battery

Hey ... just to add my two cents in here, For some reason Lineage OS on my E4 Plus blew up this weekend. I woke up in the middle of the night and it had rebooted for some reason and was stuck on the reboot screen. I managed to get it fired up, but it wouldn't do anything but freeze. I wiped it, reinstalled everything, still no luck. Then I re-installed the whole rom, still barely running at 1975 speeds. I thought maybe the ram inside had fried itself or something. SO I scrambled around, saw the announcement for Vanir 7.1 Moto E4plus . I installed it and BAM! everything is working (Faster than before this issue) .... I'm happy and I like this ROM. Thanks for all the hard work making this happen. WOuld love to see 8.1 ported over to the E4plus

Thank you

Tim

That is definitely on my To-Do list.. Plus I'll be posting a new ROM soon. Like so new, there aren't any threads anywhere I could find
