LgV20 microphone issues!

Hello everyone, first time poster!

I'm having some serious issues with my lgv20s microphone and need some help.

I can sometimes be heard on speaker phone, but on regular phone calls I can't be heard at all. I can scream into the microphone, make vulgar and inappropriate comments, and the person on the other end of the line will hear dead silence.

Anyways, I'm looking at getting a free refurbished replacement (not thrilled about that), fixing the problem myself, or having someone else fix it.. I have kept this phones in brand new condition, so I really don't want someone else's dinged up "certified" reman phone.

Sorry for dragging this on, but I was wondering if anyone had some advice on how to fix/replace the Mic.. Or had experience with this themselves. I have tried multiple ways to clean the microphone port, as well as troubleshooting.. Thanks in advance!!!

I already gave that a shot too! Also tried safe mode.. Went through over an hour on the phone (via headset) with Verizon to troubleshoot the Mic.. No success.

I was wondering.. Would anyone happen to know if the microphone is part of the headphone jack assembly?

If it is, it looks pretty easy to replace.. However, if part of the motherboard I am screwed.

so supposedly there are 4 microphones on the device - I know there are easily 2 one top one bottom.

also supposedly for speakerphone use it will use them all - again supposedly.

so try this first - fire up the HD Audio Recorder app - and try to record something at a reasonable level. Reason - this uses the same microphones, DAC, and encoder bits that are used for everything else (phone calls, video recording, etc etc.

If that comes out odd - this you have issues with the hardware. If it only affects your phone calls it might be something else.

TO that end I would give wifi calling a test - and I would make sure your issue is repeatable in various locations. I have issue making phone calls in part of my building and it varies greatly - but only here.

Have you already tried the factory reset (without loading any apps)?

Hi! I recently bought LG V20. Got a good deal but now Im facing the exact same issue. While in call microphone doesnt work :(. Only Speaker or handsfree calls work. I even checked on audio recorder. Main microphone gives out very low volume..... Please help, did you get any solution?

was your phone new in box or refurbished by chance. If it comes out really weak with the audio recorder It points to a hardware issue in my mind.

however I'd still factory reset it and try again before going through the hassle of a return.

Hey guys here how to fix this before sending in or getting replacement. There times where lint clogs up mics to take tooth pick or open up paper clip on bottom of phone to right of the ear phone jack pick out anything that might got cloged in there also your going to want to do the 3 other longer slots on the other side on bottom first do little tiny one next to ear phone jack then open hd recorder and test out should work 100% try and keep them clean every few months I hope I helped some you out.

I faced same problem.. I did clean mic.. I did reset factory setting and erased all data no use.. Beside blocking some applications may effect.. Finally I installed an app from store called (microphone guard) and its work 100%.. Just give a try

https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai... "

It's work, you can give a try
