Help Is there a way to lock pics?

I hate handing my phone to someone to check it out.

I wish there was a quick guest acct that would allow people to still see my phone and apps, but not allow any changes to be made, or allow certain things to be locked down, like photo's.

People think its just a phone and then they start thumbing through your emails and pictures and changing settings by accident.....

arrrrrgh..

THERE IS! Is nobody reading? APP lock. free from the market. download it, pick which parts of the phone you want to lock, set your pin and BINGO. They can't open those apps without the PIN.

But that means that you'll have to put in pin to unlock app every time you want to use it. I think what greenrolaids want is a way to set up accounts sort of like in windows, where you can set up guest account and administrator account with different levels of access. A guest account would only let you do certain things while the administrator account would give you all access. It's actually a pretty cool idea. If some dev could create that, I'll buy it.

As opposed to having to enter one to login to your phone? That would be worse for me. Has any phone done that...like ever? Not being an ass just think it's easier to only lock what I dont want seen since I dont look at it all the time, then have accounts and load screens for said accounts. Seems like alot of work when I could just say, No you cant see it. :)

I'm not looking to hide anything. My son likes to look at the pictures, but he has accidentally deleted some. When I look in properties there is a field for protected. I just want to make the file read-only.

As for not letting my kid look at my phone, either you don't have children or you have not interest in allowing them to experience new things. My son doesn't do anything to harm my phone, he just likes to use it. Much like his Dad.

Correct and a polite "no thank you" as well.

Well, not to sound judgmental but ... then those are the breaks, dude.

To my knowledge, there is no way to do that from stock. A few apps have been mentioned but, to me, that's just adding extra steps to a mundane task in order to keep little hands out of a piece of equipment. Hope it works out for you.

Most smart phones today have the option for you to password lock your phone. Meaning every time you turn on or wake the device from sleep, you'll have to enter password to gain access. Believe it or not, some people do use this feature, despite the inconvenience. What I'm suggesting would be no different, except you'll have the option to easily switch to guest account with restricted access.

I agree locking individual apps would be fine if it's something you don't need all the time. But if it is something like emails/txt/photos which I access many times through out a day and many times with in the same session of using then yes i think it would be a more of a pain than just logging in when you first access the phone.

Yes I realize that most of not all phones come with a default lock. But when you say "guest account" that implies like a separate logon which would mean it would BOOT into a different display with differant access rights. You would need a password for YOUR account which would be the same thing as having to enter something to unlock.

The process of booting takes time in ANY platform. Because as you said different options/permissions are LOADED. You would have to come up with the FASTEST load times to not piss anyone off. If I went to use my phone, unlocked it and had to wait for it to boot into my account.....I would go crazy. I would rather not have a "guest" account just taking up space and resources and just tell people they can't see my phone.
