My wife is not always right but she is never wrong.

They messed with my Coke back in the mid seventies. I don't know what they changed but it came without announcement and few noticed it was different. It was a change that I did not like. I'm sure the change was to increase profits. I just quit drinking the stuff. I haven't had a soda since.

Call me a skeptic but I have zero faith in mankind making a substitute sugar. I'm just not a fan of any engineered foods. It's not that I'm not a trusting soul but .. well... I guess I'm not. I've seen too many science experiments go awry.

I left in my first name (indiana boom, Mr. @shalemail ? :D ) but omitted the other personal info; this is Ferrera's official response to my concerns about the Maple Nut Goodies. I smell a fabrication, since it seems like the "issue" would have been noticed a long, long time ago. Besides, they said nothing about the awful waxy/filmy change to the coating. ;)

I'm guessing they are also mailing this given the reference to the "enclosed." ;) Still, it is something.

Dear Greg:

Thank you for contacting Ferrara Candy Company regarding Brach's® Maple Nut Goodies. Hearing from our consumers better enables us to continue to provide quality products and services. Consumer feedback is very important to us, and we appreciate the opportunity to respond.

A recent manufacturing process change had an unexpected consequence of making the Maple Nut Goodies much harder than before. We are now aware of the issue and are working on making immediate corrective changes to restore the texture that our consumers know and love. Let me assure you that our full team is engaged on this matter and we are pushing to fix the issue as quickly as possible.

We take the quality of our brands and the trust of consumers like you very seriously. Over the last four years, we have invested significantly in improving our quality, consistency and variety. As a loyal Brach's consumer, we hope you have seen some of these changes across the Brach's line of confections.

The information you provided is helpful in our efforts to continually improve our products and will be shared with our Quality Assurance Management Team. We assure you that our team is aware of the issue and has read the complaints you shared.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your comments and feedback on our products. Please use the enclosed to purchase a product of your choice.

Sincerely,

Mindy Ray
Consumer Relations

I must admit I am a bit remiss as to why I was mentioned in this post. That said it's been a rough couple ...weeks, months ... whatever, so perhaps the synapses are not firing at optimal levels. I'm quite very pleased they are fixing the Maple Nut Goodies (TM) and that you'll have that back among your favorite snacks. Personally I am not familiar with them. :(

(I thought you knew my name was Greg when you posted that...)

This is what the package looked like about ten-15 years ago. I posted this one so you could see the candies, too. ;)

Sadly, I did not know (until today) that your name is Greg. The packaging actually said Indiana Greg and the Temple of Boom. No hidden (or inside) meaning.

Hi Greg, now I want to try the maple nut goodies. So thanks for that.
You may (or may not) know my name is Scott, my wife Rachel and everyone knows the pooches names, cause I post them ALL THE TIME.
Nice to be properly introduced.

Point being, if she's wrong, she is still right, or at least it's foolhardy to tell her otherwise.

The old saying applies: "Happy Wife, Happy Life."

Perhaps there are some wives out there who like being challenged and told they are wrong (even when they are!!), but I haven't married any of them. ;) :D :p

He's retired. I think his brain retired with him.

Dang. I actually thought you found that and posted it as in "that was Greg doing a mic drop (BOOM) on the prior post." ;)

Ah, well. (When you get more pooches maybe name them shale and mail? :D )

Oh, and don't try the Maple Nut Goodies until they fix them. Otherwise you'll think I'm deranged to like them. ;)

I'm not familiar with your Maple Nut Goodies, so I feel a trans-atlantic confectionery swap is needed. You send me a bag of Maple Nut Goodies, and I'll send you a proper bar of chocolate ;)

Spammers/ID Thieves are not usually this honest...

View attachment 133663

Seeing as how I have spent countless hours cleaning up after these jokers when three of our corporate email accounts got hacked, I have nothing but fond wishes of long-lasting itchy rashes in places best left unscratched.

However, I can't fault the spammers entirely when the car was left running with the doors unlocked and the keys still in the ignition .... the accounts that were hacked were using the following passwords ... "blond", "america" and the granddaddy of them all "1234".

isn't the normal person already on high alert?

At least in my case, the spamathon began early Sunday morning using company accounts that didn't get checked until Monday. I do have sending limits on the server so it could have been worse, but it was still a major pain to get the backlog, bounced replies and our sender reputation cleaned up. And, of course I forced all users to immediately change passwords with enforced complexity. Never underestimate the power of lazy and stupid when used in combination!

Stupidity, or stubbornness?
Also, from the same article: https://religiousgrounds.wordpress.com/2016/05/11/bonhoeffer-on-stupidity-entire-quote/

The fact that the stupid person is often stubborn must not blind us to the fact that he is not independent. In conversation with him, one virtually feels that one is dealing not at all with a person, but with slogans, catchwords and the like that have taken possession of him. He is under a spell, blinded, misused, and abused in his very being

Reminds me of many online discussions :)

But we're all "stupid" in some ways.

Bonhoeffer was an amazing man in many respects. If you’re interested in knowing more about him, I can commend to you Eric Mataxas’ excellent book, “Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy.” I don’t read a whole lot of nonfiction, much less biographies, but if they were all written this well, I probably would.
