Changing default phone dialer

Before the OTA I was able to select which apllication was used when the large "phone" button was pushed on the homepage. I think what used to happen was that when you downloaded a new phone dialer and then pressed the phone button the first time you were given an option as to what app you want to use for this action. Once you chose an app it was always activated when you pressed the phone button. I don't see this happening anymore.

Am I missing something?

First, is the alternate dialer still installed?

Yes the other one is stiil installed

I've done a bit of research on this myself.... From what I have read it is NOT possible to change the default dialer with 2.1

I emailed the developer of Dialer One hoping for a solution. Sadly, he responded there is none.

That is really too bad - the dialer on the Eris is the worst one i have ever had. It is truly a piece crap. I can't tell you how many time I have dialed a number by mistake.

Try Call Confirm in the market. This will help you prevent dialing unwanted numbers.
