Andriod 6.0 on Galaxy S5. If I used stock dialer and Speed Dial buttons I get a dialog box:-

USSD code running

followed by another dialog box:-

Connection problem or invalid MMI code.

If I use the Contacts app, for the same number, the phone dials!

This happens with all my Speed Dial numbers. If I tap in the number it dials.

If have tried deleting the Speed Dial number and then re entering; no joy.

Something seems wrong with the Speed Dial system?

Any advice please?

That generally means that the USSD or MMI codes sent by the phone aren't been recognised by the carrier network.

Was the phone you're using supplied by your carrier? And who is your carrier?

No phone not supplied by current carrier; bought ftom 02, I am in UK , changed to Virgin Mobile.

If it's customised for O2, could be it's sending USSD codes that are specific to the O2 network, but aren't been recognised by Virgin's network.

Quite frankly I've never used speed dials, and just have all my contacts stored with full phone numbers.
