Im a fan of OEM accessories (not just smartphones but other gear unrelated to smartphones) as I think they know more about their product than 3rd party suppliers (although this is not always the case).
I use the military case. I used this for the note 8 and loved it. The case is unassuming, not over the top looking with a bunch of radical designs , but just a simple cover that protects and is clean.
I got the 'Spigen (Liquid Air) case.
I really like it but the only issue is that the top, bottom and sides collect a load of dust almost instantly. Even if I clean it off then put the case back on. If I put it in my pocket for a few minutes or even sub the screen on my clothes then it instantly gets dust and tiny particles gunked up at the spot where the case edges comes around and meets the screen.
Is this usual?
I have the Caseology Legion in blue and the OEM Samsung Protective case with stand in silver. The Samsung case is great looking, and has more 'raisivity' than last years Note 8 rugged case.
The Caseology Legion is great for the price, looks good in blue but not as comfortable in the hand as the Samsung.

That doesn't sound normal, a little fist over time can be expected, not sure the exact reason not every case I have owned has done this to some extent, but it take a long time. My guess is the dust is attracted to the plastic or rubber of the case and gets stick in the corner, as the case moved a little, dust moved in; just a guess though. As for how fast, it takes a while, few weeks or a month at soonest. Is your case a tight fit? If not, you may want to exchange it with Amazon.
Spigen Rugged Armor Galaxy Note 9 Case with Resilient Shock Absorption and Carbon Fiber Design for Galaxy Note 9 (2018) - Matte Black
Basically the same case that I have used on all my previous Note cellphones (5,8&9)
Reasonably priced at around $12 and they have done an excellent job of protecting my phones.
Mine's OCUBE, chinese, I think, but a nice faux leather case that the phone clips into very firmly. I won't use those cases that hold the phone with a sticky pad.
